American football, as I will say it as to not offend any people not living in the united states, is quite boring to me to watch on tv. But when you play a madden nfl game with friends, it suddenly becomes the best thing ever.

Actually the faking an injury is not true. American football can get pretty tough sometimes when you get tackled to the ground if you have the football, and if you are tackled to the ground with enough force, you can injure yourself pretty bad, so you cna get some massive bad injuries.

I hear you... No idea what's going on and what they are talking about... Really thinking about watching some "Football for Dummies" or something...

That I got :D And I learned what an interception is. Got it after like... the 6th or 7th time... Yeah, football is not big over here. And I hate Soccer, which is so huge here, almost like a religion or something. People being beaten up for liking the wrong club and IDK... I just don't get sport and this kind of enthusiasm for a sportsclub I guess...

After I've read "Eyeshield 21", a manga about American Football in Japan, I pretty much know most of what's happening here. [The manga is also quite entertaining, btw. And I think they made an anime version of it too, although it's not quite as entertaining as the manga.] What's important, though, is that you really shouldn't pay any attention to plays, formations or the like. These are absolutely unneccessary for anyone who's not already an expert on the topic. American football is relatively easy, though. I think there should probably be some 5-10min video guides out there that quickly explain what's happening.
