i am 13 right now and I took inspiration from het base and also had a mini tower with a secret entrance, so she's right a bout playing as a 14 year old mind
I’ve thought of the lore for this: Gem, the protector of the cherry village has been captured during the update by pillagers. They knew that they couldn’t cage her though, so they hid her. Far away from the cherry village leaving the cherry village, without a protector. Meanwhile, Gem finds another village to protect. Gem must challenge the pillagers to a raid of the new village before they raid her cherry village. If the pillagers win then her life will be lost, but if she prevails then the pillagers will give her the location of her cherry village and she’ll be able to go home. But at the end if everything goes well, she’ll have two homes.
You can just build a greenhouse. Water sources won't freeze with any block (with a collision box) over them, even glass. Water sources will ONLY freeze if they are directly exposed to the sky. (For example, a chain will prevent freezing, but vines won't.)
@@mabelmabel8112 Yes, they extend the growing season by trapping heat and sheltering from wind, and can be used all-year round with heating and lighting, used a lot in England to grow mostly tasteless mass-market tomatoes :/ I just wish Minecraft had a few diagonal slope blocks - slope glass pane (for greenhouse), slope tiles, slope concrete, slope wood, slope slate. Slope sandstone for pyramids would be neat too.
5:20 Tip: water logging the water with a slab/stair etc or putting a solid block above it also prevents it from freezing :) 6:46 This means for these water sources underground, they shouldn’t freeze even without the torches above them, since they do not have direct sunlight
best comment for living in a snow biome^^^ would recommend waterlogged slab to place a torch on so you have walkable surface while gathering your crops, and a light source placement so mobs dont spawn. would have said waterlogged trapped door or even sea pickles, but accidently falling into the water source is annoying.. slabs are just much better overall.
@@agent90z waterlogged slabs are always my go to for farms, even in warm biomes. As you mentioned, they prevent falling in the hole, and they are great for placing a light source. I usually opt for a lantern, since torches break too easily when you are harvesting.
Saved me the time of typing the same info. Also useful for Ice Farming. Place a ring of covered source blocks in a frozen biome/high up and they fill the center, then the center freezes but not the ring.
I love that too! Like you said. You don’t have to abandon the old world to start a new one. You can just go to a totally different location and start something different! 😁
The relaxing aspect is what I like also. So many minecraft videos are about doing things super fast. There's another channel I like called itsmarloe and he's doing a series right now where I think he's on episode 5 or 6 and a whole episode was about finding andesite cause he wanted it for his chimney. That may not sound like the most exciting thing but another thing he's doing is cutting out all of the extra noise in the game so it's mostly silent besides some ambiance. It's probably one of the most relaxing series I've ever seen
11:05 The physical position of these villagers gossiping suggests that blocks within your base have been labeled as part of the village due to proximity. The 'center' of the village is between the village and your manor. Unsurprising since they'll expand to roughly any potential job block or bed within 32 blocks of another bed, job block, bell, etc, that is part of the village. That's a fairly substantial range. (Technically, it breaks it down more by subchunks, which can just be thought of as chunks for simplicity. Any (sub)chunk with a claimed block is part of the village. Any (sub)chunk adjacent to a village (sub)chunk that has a potential bed or job block added to it becomes part of the village. So you basically need a "moat" of (sub)chunks around any village to keep any new structure built from joining the village. (A subchunk is just a 16 block tall slice of a chunk.)) If you'd like them to gather in the center of your choosing, place a bell. They'll gather there. Just be aware that villagers may still try to break into your manor until you can get it divorced from the village.
I am not a parent, but being an adult I also prefer these video's. It is just wonderful to wind down to. And if I had children, I would probably prefer them watching Geminitay over today's children's tv shows nowadays. I don't remember cartoons being so crazy loud and jarring when I was young.
@@SlateTiarayeah! Cartoons are not what they usually were back in the day. Even on Netflix. The kids shows now are just….ehhhhhhhhh 😬. Not educational and fun to watch. Expect Bluey! I love Bluey. A show on Netflix that is good for kids and anyone to watch. Is called Puffin Rock. It’s calming (not loud), fun to watch and it’s a bit educational.
Dido. As a movie protestor, completely agree with this. (I had to watch an alien movie, and my cortisol levels skyrocketed..I didnt come out of my room until an hour later..😭)
PG is over the recommended content exposure for a child. PG means a parent or guardian's discretion as guidance because the exposure is harmful content and needs a mature light, a thought process from a mature adult to evaluate and grow, but ironically all is harmful, though worse if left on their own to discover harmful adults playing a game thought to be suitable for children. Which it's not. Minecraft on its own is PG and not suitable for children.
I am impressed with how your manor lords village is coming together. Your great building and decorating skills combined with the beautiful natural generation (you definitely got lucky with this seed having a stunning ice spikes, relatively flat land, and well placed hills around the village) around it make this a stunning village and your area as a whole look like the inside of a gigantic snow globe!
Friendly (Advice) Reminder GeminiTay. . . .that HOLE you covered? (In the middle of town?) COULD hold/ HIDE Piligers when you do your RAID! Long ago, I was slamming my head against the wall (metaphorically) because I could not seem to FINISH a Pilliger Raid (because some of them ended up under the ground in an area I had previously COVERED UP! (and I couldn't FIND them) VERY frustrating! (so, be sure to REMEMBER the location of that hole, "just in case")
I will always be a fan of a secret entrance on a single player world. I've played like that since I was a little kid and there's something so fun about it!! Really loving the series :)
I LOVE the vibe of your hardcore videos, so cozy and satisfying. I'm 52 and have playing this game for years with my kids and I STILL make secret entrances. Your hide and go seek lighthouse gave me so much inspiration for my own server build. Well done GEM! Also happy pride to all of us in the RAINBOW mafia.
The new copper bulbs perhaps? The space within the village walls needs to be lit up, so using these would make a change from lanterns or messy torches. I wonder if they can be placed on top of a copper lightning rod like some giant copper lollipop.
Gem! I think making a green house for your crops would be so cool! 1 for wheat , 1 for potatoes, etc. but you could add bees! And a cute little garden area!!!❤❤❤ Plus I love this series !! So fun!
It‘s been a long time since I‘ve been so excited about a survival or hardcore series. Gem, your excitement over the terrain, the villager houses, mobs, etc. is so infectious! I can‘t wait to see what else you will experience in this world and how you will transform it! 💕 I just went exploring in my own survival world and found my first trial chamber but I also found some gorgeous terrain on the way and it made me think of the first episode of this series. I think I will do what you did too and leave everything behind (at least for a little vacation). Exploring and finding these beautiful landscapes always makes me so excited about Minecraft again! 🥰
You can stop water from being frozen by putting a block above it at any distance. Your farmland doesn't need to be underground. Not to mention if you water log the water with a half slab or stair
I am in love with these videos, although i only found @GeminiTay a couple days ago its nice to watch her video as i find them very chill and super relaxing to watch
Lore for crops.... during the "Winter Months" all the passes are blocked by deep, deep snow, so the village must fend for itself as far as large amounts of food go. A single traveler or small party might get through but not supply wagons.
tip for the future, if you put paper or a compass into a cartographers table, you can get a map with eight less paper! good for a resource barren area like this.
Gem, save yourself some iron and redstone. Not only do you not need the player location function on a map that's only function is to be a wall display, but on the cartographer table you can use one piece of paper to turn it into an empty map, then place any map (even locator maps) in one slot, empty map in the other slot, and copy the 1st map. Just lock the copy to save it and keep using your main as is.
I love the editing magic where Gem says "the cows just disappeared" 😆😆 And also watching this series gives me inspiration to want to build in a snow biome. Great content! Keep it going!
I believe water only freezes when it's exposed to the sky directly above it, so having water underground (or even just under a single block) would prevent it from freezing over. of course torches work as well, but there are other options in case you need water in a dark area for whatever reason (like a mob farm)
If there no sky access for the water it won't freeze. You could keep an outdoor water source protected with a trapdoor or a slab and it would be fine. Your underground water sources in your farm are definitely more than safe from freezing.
Those "silly entrances" could get upgraded in the form of becoming iron golem pens. Then the mobs would get funneled to their doom! Ofc, loose golems would still be allowed to wander the rest of the village
You could have a villager at each gate entrance as like, a watchtower or something. Giving them a bell could help signal "hey, there's danger incoming".
You could make a polar bear sanctuary!! Just a little area where they can be safe, eat, drink and just relax. With an open gate so that they can come and go as they please!!
It's so refreshing to watch a world evolve at a slower, more normal pace. While I absolutely live for each hermitcraft episode, it is nice to be reminded of the calm pace of an average minecrafter.
Just a small note on ice/water mechanics: water sources only turn to ice in cold biomes on the condition that they're adjacent to a full block and exposed to open air. So underground water sources will never freeze.
Hey Gem! I love the idea of starting in a new location but in the same world. It would be really cool if you did lots of seasons, each one in a different village! Thanks for being one of the best RU-vidrs out there!!!
5:22 yes torches work, i believe any light source does, actually. alternatively you can place a block above the source, since only water sources that are exposed to the sky will freeze. waterlogging also works, since two blocks cannot share the same space
If you want the water to stay liquid, put a little roof over it - you won't need torches right next to water sources if the water isn't exposed to the sky (will reduce torch spam)
You make me want to play minecraft so much! This village is so nice too, no weird houses on cliffs or inside caves it's so nice and flat without being super flat.
Heyy! Love your new series! If you are still having trouble with the water freezing, you can place leaves on the water and it won’t let it freeze. It still works the same. Hope this works if you use it!
I'm absolutely loving this so far but could you please continue the let's play series. The last video you posted about it was when you built Dandy a castle but all and all your vids are always great and entertaining❤
Love just how funny and creative she can be with her vids. “The cows have magically disappeared… That’s perfect 👍 casually holds the raw beef😂 also love that secret entrance will definitely use that sometime in one of my worlds
I see new gem video, I click. Seriously though, really enjoying this so far. It’s a throwback to the original hardcore village transformation series. I’ve watched that so often
i've been subscribed since i stumbled upon your videos! there are only a few youtuber's that I have found that just builds everything so pretty and also keeps the video's entertaining
