There is no clear cut defintion for a continent and we britsh view are selves not as part of europe. We put up with europe much like one puts up with syphaliss. You can argue iceland is a part of europe but thats plitical much like greenland. Both part of europe but closer to a diffrent continent. All so continent are somtime difimed but likeness of culture which is why asia and europe are separte continet though they have no water divide. I don't know the rules to the obscure sports admittedly, but I challenge you to think of anything related to cricket that I don't understand, cricket is the second most popular sport in the world, and I happen to play cricket at minor county level (youth), I have a good grasp on any of the world's popular sports, I don't know anything about things like curling, because they're obscure, but I'd expect people who claim to like sport to understand the basics of the major sports such as football, cricket, rugby, tennis, formula 1, american football, and baseball (I concede that those 2 American sports are major sports). I understand your cultural point, that's why I understand Football, cricket, rugby and tennis a lot better than the others, because I grew up in England, where everyone plays those sports, so I know the ins and outs of them, and I know the fundamentals of the others because I actually like sport generally, so I watch/play even the sports that I didn't grow up with, unlike Americans (generalising horrendously), who seem to cling to their own few sports and shun the others
