A fair warning, Zero; if your torches go out, your screwed. So ALWAYS start a new torch when your current one gets too faded. And the one that seems different? DON'T use it and allow it to burn out; that's the only one with a reason behind it. Put simply, you only need the Spear, Torch (Obviously) and Hammer. The helmet and bones are red herrings to get you murdered. I will respect your blind Let's Play wishes, but simply by pointing out details like these, or about rooms AFTER you've seen them or died. Let me know if this is okay or not, this game can be just as mean as Uninvited.
Shadow9808 Thanks, yeah, I learned about the torches the hard way, lol. I'll probably be a few videos ahead of what you guys will be seeing, but I'm playing it multiple sessions, so I've still got a ways to go. I just got past the Cyclops, and I probably won't record another session until some time next week. And by all means, if you guys have any tips for me, let me know. I'm trying to avoid using a walkthrough as much as possible, but tips and hints are fine with me. I might already be past those points in the game by the time they come up in the videos, but I'm sure the info can still be useful.
Yes! Yes! This is a good one. But don't expect it to be easy just because it's a NES game. It's still easier than many games in this genre back in the time and you don't need tons of patience like you do in some classic adventures from the Commodore 64 era. Me and my friend beat the swedish version when we where 12. The problems with these games are usually that one or two puzzles are almost unsolvable. But they manage to avoid that in this game. That's good eventually, since you can't call a Nintendo Support number anymore =). I hope you can solve it without cheating with a walkthrough! Don't leave anything unexplored. Try everything, but try out the most logical options first. It's great that you've played Uninvited before. If you finished that game, you will at least go very far in Shadowgate. Count on me, I will watch! I won't spoil anything unless I see you suffer ;)
Peeping Tom Thanks! I'm a few videos ahead of what you guys are seeing right now. To give you a rough idea of where I am, I just got past the Cyclops. I've gotten stuck a few times so far, but I think I'm making decent progress. I did have to cut out some wandering/trying random items till I got past an obstacle, though. I want to avoid looking at a walkthrough as much as possible, but if I get really stuck I may need to resort to just enough info to point me in the right direction. I think I've really only needed it once so far. You guys can give me tips as well, since I'm sure they can come in handy.
You can't be greedy in the dragon room, only take what is necessary, the shield, obviously, spear, and axe. In the remake, the helmet in their is completely useless, but I'm unsure of this version. Also, I do not think you can ever open that chest, so don't take the b8 m8.
Chromidorr Thanks for the tips. I actually got lucky in that room. I'm a few videos ahead of here, so I'm past the dragon room. I think the helmet doesn't have a use in this version either.
