@MattDustyParker Thanks! Biblical expertise is one of the most practical and potent intellectual weapons one can possess, whether Christian or no. In fact, having a working familiarity with the Bible, the works of Shakespeare, and Greek mythology equips one with the ability to understand roughly 95% of all literary allusions and themes in classic literature.
Wow, I remember this game. My Dad was the type who shops exclusively at Chrstian stores, and this is one of the many Wisdom Tree games I was the recipient of. Such interesting games you choose, Mr. TheWheel!
Oh my god Sampson's Jawbone is a boomerang, now I know where Edmund McMillen got the idea for the Binding of Isaac item's functionality. He did, after all, get a lot of inspiration for that game from stuff like this...
Awesome intro! It was kind of similar to the charts thing you did for Oh No! More Lemmings. Anyway, you've just earned a ton of respect from me, RTW, because you did not mock Christianity. Thank you!! So many people do that these days any chance they get, and it really angers me. People like to make us out to be idiots, and that is simply not true and really ignorant. You're awesome, man!
@JMFSpike Well, I'm in no position to make fun of Christianity. I was raised in it for 13 years and even after I left my home church out of dissatisfaction with the denomination (Assembly of God/Pentecostal), I found much of what I learned useful. I think it's rude to mock how other people live their lives, unless they're abusing their religion or using it to evil ends. Everyone is really only trying to get by the best way they know how.
I love that the gamification of these Biblical ideas creates ideas that are undoubtedly heretical. Namely, taking people's souls in exchange for goods! Man. This game is going to be hilarious. Glad you did this one.
@erk2p No, just my personal preference, though I do think that anything simpler than, say, The Living Bible is losing a bit too much of the thread. Growing up in a denomination that was big on old-fashioned ways, a lot of them were KJV elitists. I had a NIV study bible as a teenager and one guy even once told me, "You read the NIV. I read the Bible." HUUUUUGE asshole, that guy. Goatse-style, even.
@roundthewheelrtw I've heard that the NIV actually leaves certain parts of the bible out, though. I'm not familar with the NIV, but just knowing that makes me dislike it. I've also heard that it twists some of the scripture. I prefer the NLT myself.
