My theory about the key in Jenivere's room: Basso is a bit insecure, so she pretends to be locked in and in need of his expert lock-picking skills, leading him to believe that he's making an essential contribution to her rescue, and building up his self-esteem.
3:34 well that's one objective I never knew this mission had, damn I'd like to play this so much again. The new Thief game doesn't have the same charm as the first 2 and DS.
Oh! And at around 13:00, you can indeed get 'em both; pretty easily too. Wait till the patrol passes, go out the doorway, close the doors & hug the wall. I'm pretty sure you have to go for the guy on the left first (got caught multiple times going for the one on the right), crouching and sneaking the entire time. Continue crouch + sneak and you can get the guy on the right as well. Prettyy cool!
+drp scderp An easy way to do it, is stand next to the inside of one of the doors, then focus on the door on the opposite side and close it, your "body" will keep the one door open, and give you a better approach angle to one of the guards... Repeat for the other side :)
This is probably my favorite game of all time. I have more nostalgia for Thief 1, but this is objectively the better game. I'm glad they moved away from the monsters (mostly), and kept the focus on bopping humans on the head.
I think that some porculein plates are collectible as loot. Hope that he will figure that until the end of game. And that he could disarm set mines and collect them again with lockpicks.
13:10 you actually can very carefully sneak toward left guard and get behind him unnoticed, knock him and then quickly knock right guard too, it saves flash for archer, but it is quite tricky, much easily just stay in the shadow inside, jump on one spot to make some noise and easily knock all two guard that comes to check noice, this tactic work perfectly
They should have made it (on expert), that some guards cannot be knocked out at all, so that you are forced to sneak past them and learn their patrolling pattern. Of course you could always do it like that anyway, but it's not the same... :)
3:31 really surprised me, most "hidden" things in games these days are simply just slightly out of plain sight, at least from my experiences. I just thought the little nook was a texture glitch or something at first.
You know what might be interesting? If the gas lamps you put out have been out long enough when the guard goes to light it the room explodes. I realize that would be hard to pull off, especially with the limitations of the time. But if I were making Thief 4 it would be in the game.
I've talked about it before. I'm not anticipating it quite as much as Xenonauts. I haven't really highly anticipated an X-COM game since being let down by most of the X-COM games in the past. I'm interested in playing it, but I'm not jonesing for it.
Wow....6 years ago this was first uploaded....I remember when you were still working on this...anyway...some loot you missed...a 3rd wine bottle on the rack as well as 3 coins on a ledge above the stair landing in the kitchen which you need a crate to reach. I know its a little too late but if you ever play it again, you now know. =)
hey foxy i was a lil curious, do you know/are you anticipateing the new X-Com Enemy Uknown done by Firaxis? i woulda thought you might post a video of the demo or something... unless you talked about it dureing civ 5, was a lil slow paced so i havent watched much of it
Hiding in shadows in some case is totally illogical in this game. Didn't the devs think that shadows don't hide anybody if the background behind the thief is lighted up? When the background is lighted up, one can see the black silhouette of a person contrasting against the light background.
Certainly true, but this is still one of the most advanced stealth games out there... not to mention definitely the most advanced stealth game of its time. All advanced stealth games to follow took their cues from the Thief series including Splinter Cell.
edwin11373 The GoG and Steam versions are patched so they do work. If you decide to get the physical version from somewhere like Amazon or eBay, the links in the description I provide show what to do to get it working.
I'm sorry that I'm writing here but I can't watch your Alice Madness video part 13 and 14 it says "The uploader has not made this video available in your country"
Foxy why have you blocked UK from seeing your last two Alice vids? This another youtube problem, know they been doing alot of strange things with videos as of late. (E.g. Videos from 5 years ago being uploaded randomly. - Case of another LPer)
