I enjoyed these rankings. I’d need to go back and re-watch all of them to do a ranking, but every time I do, I end up watching Episode 1 and 2, then giving up. Sand for the sarlacc pit!
I'd like to see you rank these films again in 30 years time. You might find that A New Hope climbs up, and Return of the Jedi climbs down. But i can't deny that Empire is best, and Last Jedi is worst. :)
after watch the shows and play many Star Wars games, I can't put anything from the movies above B tier. It seems to me that the entire SW universe benefits more from long stories and not something less than 3 hours and a textual intro at the beginning. And maybe I'll lower them to C tier when I finish watching Clone Wars, which I'm loving (i'm on season 4 right now).
Man Star Wars is a series that’s meant to be enjoyed regardless. My mother is partial to the original trilogy. I’m a fan of the prequels. And I’m sure many kids like the sequel trilogy with kilo ren and his unique lightsaber. Not everyone needs to agree on everything. It’s fine to have an opinion, everyone has one. Ah yea and we made it to the end!
Watched the whole thing. Entertainment from episode 7 and 9, sure. But the plot just doesnt respect star wars. I’d but an empty tier between C and B just to put the sequels on another level below everything else. Other than that, i agree with your ranking
I'm not gonna complain about the rankings, since its just movie opinions, and the video is still entertaining. buuuut I am sad only one of my top three made your S Tier 😢 also sand sarlaac and the long one about solo
@GamingYourOwnWay for me, it's a new hope, rogue one, then last jedi. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but the only issue I really have with tlj as a self-contained work is the subplot with the hacker..(*related tangent below) I don't mind mopey Luke, rediscovering hope, and acting with greater wisdom at the end of the film than the start. That is kinda his whole thing. And his character growth was really undermined by JJ's setup more than RJ's choices with that setup. for me, the only f-tier movie was the rise of Skywalker, big it has some of my favorite combat scenes in the whole franchise. that said, all three of the sequels have some of the best choreo, camera work, set design, new force powers and users, brilliant music... yknow. It's Star Wars and we love it! *TLJ is when I started the one-change game where you make the smallest change to a film for the biggest improvement. I would have changed the hacker's motivation from grey profiteer to survival instinct. The only change nade is his Monologue to Finn and Rose. it could essentially be the fatalist view "hope doesn't help us survive" and it would make the ethos of everything in the climax resonate more because Finn has seen survivorship over hope and feels connected to that character, and Rose's line about saving what we love becomes a message that hope *is* how the rebellion survives.
To be fair, TFA is ANH. And TLJ is ESB. ROS, while being; different; salvaged the trilogy it was apart of; no arguments there, but sacrificed the Saga as a whole to do so. So, ROS might not be the worst movie in the collection, but is without a doubt the worst part of the collection.
