Wolverine's first ongoing series began with issue #1 in 1988. Let's take a look at the first ten issues from this series and rank them! As a BONUS, we will also be ranking the Gallery pictures on the back covers! We're using an A-F scale and then picking one comic from the A tier and crowning it the best with an S (special) tier designation. Every one of these is a masterpiece, but only one can be champion!

Fun fact: The issue #6 back cover pinup is Todd McFarlane's first artwork of Wolverine.

BWS back cover pinup is my favorite. TM back cover needs Wolverine with a cigar not a cigarette.

It was SUCH a hard choice for me! If you removed the nostalgia factor, I probably would have went with BWS. For sure. Great comment, thank you!!!

Thank YOU! Glad you enjoyed. #8 is such a strange one. I remember seeing it on the shelves and my friends not liking it. I thought, "That's going to take off some day..." I bought all the copies on the shelf and gave them away to any other kid I met who liked Wolvey or Hulk (only if they liked the GREY hulk). Made a lot of friends because of that comic. Thanks for the comment!!!

Cover 10 is my favorite and I wouldn't hold your dislike of sink against you. I felt similar and one day my opinion changed and now I have more of an appreciation. BWS was the best pin-up for me and my favorite Wolverine artist even though I think he draws Wolverine to tall.

I have a love/hate thing with Sienk. I really liked his early stuff (think X-men Ann 6 with Dracula). I still appreciate his work, for sure. I DO love my my BWS stuff, but I'm the one guy that will never sing his praises on some work (Marvel Comics Presents Weapon X. I KNOW!) Anyway, thanks for the great comment. I appreciate your opinion. I also don't care for it when Logan is drawn too tall. Ha! Thanks again!!!

@@dalemoyers8881 The only double I have of those is 31 and it's a little rough. I had a subscription as a kid and they got a bit messed up in the mail. 7.5 grade in my opinion. It's my original copy and you're welcome to it if you want. Let me know some other titles you're interested in and I'll get a group together to make it worth my while to mail to you (I'll pay shipping) if you'd like. No strings, I just want to find good homes for some of my doubles.

Could you do a comic cover ranking list of Ninja across multiple titles? Even if you were to whittle to a top 15 or so. (Silver Samurai and Bishop are my favourite characters and I love the covers of SilSam and Wolvie together). Thanks for the great vids!
