Hi Maria, thank you so much for appreciating the artistry of this song and its intrinsically Spanish sound. This was a powerful and passionate performance with a strong message about freedom and the fear of losing it - so relevant in some parts of Europe nowadays. The song references the Spanish Civil war and I understand the crosses and dancers represent those who were shot dead for political discrepancies. The Spanish Eurofans are understandably torn between sending to Eurovision an authentic song or a more commercial easier-on-the-ear sound. Unfortunately the latter seems to be the recipe for success in a contest who more often than not seems to favor the global rather than the local sounds.
Ojalá existiese un festival paralelo a Eurovisión pero de canciones tradicionales de cada pais en su propio idioma , donde se pudiese llevar con esperenzas nuestras propuestas de raiz, seria maravilloso, como maravillosa es esta propuesta de Maria Pelaé, pero no se puede obligar o esperar que Europa ame lo que en España en mayor o menor medida sentimos en nuestras entrañas.
