The cats most likely are so incredibly stressed with all the building work going on at the house (constant noise, people in and out all the time, etc). Ideally, you should keep them in one room that is cat-only full of their comfy beds, toys and lots of litter trays so they can feel calmer in their surroundings. Also, neutering is massive part of cat behaviour so you should 100% get them neutered! Additionally, lots of cats love the outside and if you’re considering keeping yours as indoor cats, why not consider installing a ‘catio’ - a safe enclosure that the cats could access via a cat flap at anytime they like for fresh air, whilst being safely secured ‘inside’ still? Molly, you probably won’t see this but I know this from close relations to a cat charity and this will 1000% help your cats. Hope this is something you could consider x

Hi molly .I've had cats all my life, you don't need a cat behaviour specialist ,you just need to keep them in one room with the litter tray in,dont let them out to wander about, they need a quiet space for just them where they're no builders etc, that aren't going to come in ,they are basically traumatised from the move and from all the noise from the build ,trust me I've moved with my cats so many times and all they need is one room thats there's , its not cruel ,they actually love the peace and quiet ,and will go back to toileting in the cat tray when things have settled ,and the builders are gone ,you can slowly start to let them around the house .Hope that helps ❤️

Hiya Molly! Just to give some advice if that’s okay! Try a feliway plug in, we can’t smell it but cats can smell the pheromones they give off and it calms them. As weeing all over the house can be a sign of stress, so try the feliway. Also if they are old enough to be castrated try that! It helps with the spraying ☺️xx

When I moved into my home we kept our cats in one room and slowly let them out but would keep them in the one room at night just so they settled in and felt like they had a safe place! You might of tried this already because this worked for us!

My cat used to do the same thing! She even went to the bathroom in my daughters crib once! What helped me was putting a litter box in every single room especially where they like to go. Also try different types of litter! Hope it gets better!

Regarding the cats, I had the same issue with my cat who is 13 years old! I moved her onto a raw food diet and everything changed! Her stools completely transformed and it had resolved all stomach issues she had. I could not recommend it enough - kibble is almost 100% carb, raw diet allows them to eat as they would have historically and is super beneficial to their coat and digestion!! Xxx
