Well done for doing this. As a piano player myself, I found that my period of growth as a musician came when I stopped reading music and started listening to it. I no longer look for sheet music for the songs I like, I just google lyrics with the chord letters over them. Once you know the major and minor chords in any key it's really fun to just try to work the song out. I still occasionally read music, but only if I'm struggling with a melody. I'm keen to watch you progress. My one bit of advice is that it's better to have a really cheap full size (88 keys) keyboard, than an expensive one with less keys. Getting comfortable moving around the top and bottom end is best done early. When you are ready to invest a little more, the features you should look for are touch sensitive keys that project sound based on how hard you press them, and individually sampled sounds where it plays a recording of the actual instrument, rather than a synthetic approximation. I would ignore features like how many accompaniment beats it plays or how many instruments it can mimic. These features add heavily to the price, but you won't use them as much as you think. The most versatile instrument sounds on a keyboard are the basic ones that come with most cheap models; piano, strings, accoustic guitar, brass and organ. Good luck, and enjoy yourself.

Thank you so much for the comment, and the advice! I was starting to wonder if I should get a cheap full size keyboard, or whether to make do for now and save up for a nice one, but I think reading your comment it might be the former! 😂

Haha love how you lost the stand - you’re right, big thing to lose 😂 Sorry to hear about your dad. Looking forward to seeing how this goes!

I'm a big fan of making good use out of older tech that still works great. I think that is a nice keyboard and hopefully you enjoy getting back to using it. I hope you manage to find the stand or a suitable stand for it. You also have a nice lot of other random music equipment there to enjoy. I don't understand what it all does but finding out will be fun!

I still haven't found the stand, but fingers crossed it shows up! Yes, I'm looking forward to figuring out all the random equipment from the Music Box!
