Roger Reyne, known as the Red Lion, was a Lord of Castamere and head of House Reyne. He was a famous knight, and considered one of the deadliest men of the westerlands. He was a major player in the Reyne-Tarbeck revolt and Tywin Lannister did a "Rains of Castamere" to him.
This the newest vid in my Asoiaf Lore series. I'm making smaller deep dives into A Song of Ice and Fire Lore, including Game of Thrones, Dunk and Egg, Fire and Blood, and House of the Dragon Characters. The Goal of this series is to give a spotlight to smaller lesser-known characters from all over the asoiaf lore. Characters That do not have POV chapters and do not make it into the shows.
This is all my opinion based on the A Song of Ice and Fire Lore, including Game of Thrones, Dunk and Egg, Fire and Blood, and House of the Dragon.

The Red Lions should have stayed loyal to The Black Dragons. Ser Robb Reyne is doing acrobatics in his grave.

Tywin Lannister speaking up about Genna's betrothal was a child and he was sent away after to the Red Keep to be cupbearer to King Jaehaerys II and became friends with Prince Aerys. They went off together as squires to fight the War of the Ninepenny Kings. Tywin was knighted first and then he knighted Aerys. This friendship would one day see Tywin named Aerys Hand. But anyway, when 15 year old Tywin came home everyone underestimated him. With Tytos ailing and a kid in charge no wonder they thought now is the time for Rebellion. They literally had no idea who they were up against.

Ngl the way Tywin handled this was illegal and plain stupid on so many levels, Tywin basically only got away with what he did because of his friendship with Aerys. His descions basically amounted to him overcompensating for his fathers inabilty to rule by pretending to ride a high horse and putting down rebellious vassls when really he was undermining his fathers rule by provoking both house to they point where it violates the feudal system of vassalage and lordship which understanably lead to rebellion. I dont deny that there power needed to be curbed at some point and even then there were much better ways to handle the houses because tywin had 2 younger brothers he could use to cement lannister control over the two houses because if memory serves me right both houses had available daughters of marrying age, so he could have had either more lannister cadet branches or both houses continue matrilinealy with the end result still being two loyal houses to pay taxes and muster troops from in times of war or he could have taken the youngest male heir hostage/ward and put every direcly rebellious members of each family to the sword to still get the point across that Tywin lannister is not to be messes with and he would still have two more houses and their resources at his disposal all in all there were tons of options for the rebellion to have had a more lucrative outcome or be completely avoided at all but im not gonna get into that rn because tywin had a massive murder boner after his stint in the step-stones.

I would say technically they were not doing anything wrong (they were been cocky, disrespectfull, not paying their debts, however if the part who lend you the money is telling you is ok if you dont pay them back.. well...thats on him) until they got up in arms and declared themselves independant or liege lordless, at that moment they were openly rebelling so I dont know why wouldnt they call up their bannermen, even if this is Tytos we are talking about an aggresive response was to be expected. Finally I would like to have seen someone interested in the Castamere mines, they sound like are just as loaded as the Lannisters ones so why is nobody asking for permission to take thst land, especially after Tywins death

I think house Spicer got Castamere now. So maybe they'll open it up.

Mines were flooded to seal the Reynes of Castamere in there watery grave, and while I'm not an expert in the subject of mining from what I understand it's pretty hard to drain a flooded mine with today's tech so with the tech available at the time of the story there is basically no way to get to the mines beneath Castamere which means all the valuable resources are inaccessible to anyone which is part of the reason no one saught to claim the seat previously and to have the ruins serve as an example to anyone who went against tywin. It's also part of the reason I think the whole Reyne-Tarbeck rebellion is stupid on so many levels

Also the Reynes and Tarbecks did nothing wrong. Their leige lord(The Lord Paramount of the Westerlands) forgave their debts and transgressions. So why would they listen to his bratty son crying for his dad's money back? I know I wouldn't be listening to Tywin over his father 🤷🏾‍♂️

I don't think that is a controversial statement. I'm not going to defend Tywin any time soon.

Close. Tyrek Lannister. I think I cover Tygett in there. There really isn't too much on him.
