For me, this year was finally a step in the right direction for Monstercat in terms of the music. They've made some questionable decisions as a brand this year, but when it comes to the music, i think they improved from last year. I had a way harder time choosing my votes this year, and I felt like i cut a lot of good tracks out of my votes.

This comment section makes me see how many different tastes monstercat have to appeal to, I do not envy the employees who have to try and balance such varying views. I personally really liked Conor this year, he had a great album last year and built on it with some very nice singles, i particularly like scars a lot, but thats just me. Its also nice to see at least in this community on this channel how no one is really fighting each other which can happen with music tastes

As a Crankdat fan, I formally apologize for all other Crankdat fans who let Ding Dong make it onto the list. It should not have been. It was a massive mistake. We will not repeat it.

Okay so... I'm super conflicted on this compilation. On the one hand, I legitimately love basically every track here-- I think every single track deserved to make it on this list and I'm incredibly happy that some underdog releases (Remedy, Nimbus, etc.) actually made it on! That being said... I'm super disappointed in the lack of Silk releases. I know, I know, these compilations are meant to be a representation of the community's favorite songs from throughout the year, but... I just don't think they should serve that purpose any more. Monstercat has such a massive roster of artists and more than 500 releases per year now-- this outdated, 40-track multiple-tracks-from-the-same-artist system is actively hurting many of the artists who deserve recognition. GG Magree, for instance, had a massive project this year, with music videos, 7 original songs, and a hell of a marketing plan behind it. She emerged as a driving force in the movement of solo female artists in the industry, and... she got nothing for it. Regardless of how you feel about her music, you can't deny the kind of importance and impact her project had this year. Along the same vein, we have... well, the *entire* Silk roster. I know that Silk's releases aren't everyone's cup of tea, and that's perfectly fine, but I do think they deserve just as much love and recognition as any of the other artists on this compilation. LAR released *four* (4!!) EPs on Monstercat this year alone (not to mention several others on other labels/as self-releases), and each one gave a different sound and style from each other. Bound to Divide released arguably one of the best Progressive Breaks projects this label has ever seen. Hausman & Lumynesynth released a community-adored 11-track EP that encapsulates everything that is loved so much about Silk's unique take on progressive and chill dance music. Lumynesynth herself wrote/sung in TEN releases on Silk this year-- I think that's pretty damn commendable! However, because the Best Of compilations are about popularity... she had no chance to be recognized for that. Some may say that, well, if a Silk song managed to be on the compilation, then we should be happy and excited for those artists that they managed to touch so many people. And yeah, we should! OCULA, zensei, Mr. Hilroy, Tylor Maurer, Cloudcage, and Feathervane all did amazing things this year and I'm so damn proud of them for managing to beat the odds and rank high enough amongst the rest of these artists. However... is it *really* such a feel-good thing to have to fight tooth-and-nail to campaign for Silk songs so heavily and only get *three* of them on a compilation with *forty* tracks? Something just doesn't add up. I understand that Monstercat attempted to remedy this by highlighting the top 5 of each brand on their socials last week, but this really feels like a hollow attempt to solve a problem that was entirely within their ability to fix long before it was ever even thought to have been an issue (especially since we pointed all this out last year in excruciating detail and yet they completely ignored what we had to say...). I'm excited, but also disappointed. This compilation might as well just be Best Of Monstercat Uncaged and Instinct 2022, because it sure as hell doesn't cover the wide variety of ground the label covered in 2022. Edit: I find it interesting where the "this was one of Monstercat's worst years" comments are coming from. From what I can gather, people who exclusively listen to Uncaged and Instinct think this was one of the weakest years, while fans of Silk (and Uncaged and Instinct as well) are largely applauding it as one of the best years on record. Full-stop, I'm in the latter crowd, and while I understand where the former crowd is coming from, I genuinely think that if they expanded their listening horizons just a tiiiiiny bit more and accepted a wider variety of music into their playlists, they would change their tune too. Silk is nothing if not consistent, and is a large part of why I so thoroughly enjoyed Monstercat's output this year. I hope that going into 2023, more and more Monstercat listeners continue to expand their musical palettes and explore the beautiful soundscapes Silk has to offer. I promise if you look past your preconceived notions of what their releases *could* be, you might find something or another that truly touches you. Make 2023 a magical year for yourself when it comes to music! Edit 2: okay so I kinda agree on your Conro take, I haven't really been a fan of any of his releases this year... except for find u. That track might just be my favorite Conro track of all time, and that's insane to me considering tracks like Trippin', Kick It, On My Way Up, City Lights, Lay Low, Close, and Take Me There exist. It's so packed full of energy and pure *punch* and I so so wish he had continued with that bright future-rock type of sound. I still enjoy everything he's put out this year, but man do I feel like there was some serious momentum into an exciting new era of Conro that fizzled out into some more traditional poppy House stuff. Edit 3 (wow I have a lot to say apparently lol): I LOVE Ding Dong, it's easily one of the biggest bangers of the year. Super glad it's as high as it is, I was tempted to vote for it amongst my 5 Uncaged picks. Easily my favorite Crankdat on the label and I'm really really really happy it's gotten as much support as it has. It's not everyone's cup of tea and that's totally okay, but I find it to be a TON of fun!

i had 3 votes that made it in however, the results were pretty mid. a few gems in there, a couple of surprising songs, a couple bad songs & a lot of songs i didn't really care about

I thought for sure A Cookie from Space was gonna be number 1. But I still got half of the top 10 in my votes. Monstercat had some bangers this year. The latter half was not that great. This list was very top heavy, except for Ignore Them. I thought Kage had a great year

Definitely agree with this being Monstercat's weakest year. I found myself saving more old MC songs than new releases. DnB was pretty strong though, and I appreciate that
