Dear sir! What an ingenious decision to dedicate a channel almost entirely to FreeBSD, the most stable and technologically advanced operating system of our time! 🤓

Thanks!! :-) About 14 years ago I started admin with Solaris and ZFS at my job - After some years I switched over to FreeBSD and still use (only) BSD and ZFS. Never lost a file - although one server lost a lot of its 48 disks. I like ZFS - but that is only one of several reasons I like FreeBSD. Maybe you can also make a video on Chimera Linux - what already someone of the FreeBSD side did :-) Chimera Linux has a lot of *BSD inside - that is very intesrsting! And they say: "The FreeBSD tools were chosen for their high quality code and solid feature set. Some source code is also taken from NetBSD and OpenBSD." - nice! Linux with *BSD roots... I don't want a mixture in future, but just the fact, that the Linux side claims that FreeBSD base is solid stable - that is a note worth!! Especially in this bloated Linux distribution jungle :-) All the best! Norbert

Excellent features overview, thanks! Thought we were going to look at snapshots though. I must have missed it.

0:48 you only need lots of RAM if you want lots of performance, ZFS runs just fine on systems with only 2GB and 512MB of ARC :^)

I can vouch for this. I use ZFS on simple SBC based NAS (RockPro64) with only 2G and it works fine for archiving. For media streaming it works up to 1080p when the files are uncompressed, but that is more to do with the RK3399 ARM based CPU than the memory.

Is it worth using ZFS on a 226g laptop ?

It's always worth using ZFS I'd say :)

ISO files are already compressed, so ZFS should stop trying to compress the ISO file after a few msecs.
