I have been watching you for years and years and years. Pre Luna, Pre Grant, Pre Lucy :) And I just want to say, I AM SO PROUD OF YOU. You are passionate for your child (I'm a RN so it is not always this way). I love how your face LIGHTS UP when you talk about her, and I can see how much you adore her and your life. Some things that you said in this video were actually very profound, and really helped me (as I'm navigating a medical crisis) and I just want to thank you for sharing your story.

"You have to accept your life. You can't resist your life." I needed to hear this and suspect many others do too. Acceptance is often the hardest thing to do because we're constantly told to fight for what we want, and accepting has almost become synonymous with giving up. But it's not! We can still fight for ourselves and our loved ones while accepting the circumstances.

Pretty sure you could just do several chatty videos like this and it’d keep us all engaged for a while just catching up on life! 😂❤

As a teacher I just want to say how awesome it is to have kids of all talents and abilities in my classroom. We’re such a richer classroom and such a more impactful learning community when we’re together. ❤

I’m not a commenter, but I remember when I found you through another channel. I was about 19 and I’ll be 30 this year. I consider myself sane of mind, but I cry when I watch your recent stuff😅 for so many reasons: sadness, happiness, inspiration. A realistic and positive mindset is an amazing thing to have. When you said in your last video that you believe your purpose is to be Lucy's mom, I 100% think that's true. She's lucky to have both of you as parents but I think you're lucky to have her, too. It's obvious how much of a positive impact she's had on you, even with all of the really hard things, and how much you've changed (for the better lol) since she was born. Hi Leighann, I have followed you for years. I want you to know that I am a mom to 2 boys on the autism spectrum. I understand the running around to appointments and having something every day. I always hear from people: "I don't know how you do it" I say "You just have to, and you find the strength to push forward." But now I will say "You have to accept your life. You can't resist your life" Oh that is just the perfect, resounding statement. Thank you for that! Your spirit and grace through this life are so wonderful. I can't wait to see more! 🥰

Always remember to look after yourself too ❤ I have a friend who’s daughter has a rare genetic disorder caused by a GNB1 mutation and she has 3 other kids and suffered a break down. Make time for yourself, ask for help and take breaks xx

I love your authenticity. I could listen to you chat for hours and feel like you'd give great advice over a cup of coffee.

I was treated at Texas Children's Hospital from 2005-2012 (Cystic fibrosis/double lung transplant survivor) and that place literally saved my life 20 times over. Houston is one of the end all be all places for health care and I am so greatful to them every si gle day. I'm glad y'all went back!!! ❤️

Loved the part about having to accept your life. It applies in a lot of ways, but we also have a medically complicated child (4 month old with HLHS, essentially half a heart, have been in pediatric cardiac ICU since birth), but it rings very true. This isn't what we wanted and it was most certainly a random event/mutation similar to Lucie, but here we are and we have to make the best of it. Not sure if you guys were told this with Grant being in medicine, but we are both PAs and one of the first things we were told was this is "the curse of medicine," which isn't funny but then a lot of people in our field started telling us about their children and the difficulties they've faced. Anyways, good luck to you all! Can't wait to see how she progresses and you all do in the future! And we are doing an HLHS walk this summer, I don’t know if they have that for STXBP1 but it's been fun fundraising for!

Habits and routines help get you through days when you’ve had no sleep or when you have zero motivation to do more than the bare minimum. You do what you know your kid(s) need and expect. 😊

Lucy sounds like such a ray of sunshine! Obviously, you are lucky to have Lucy, but she's lucky to have such caring and focused parents in you and Grant.

Speaking from someone that has a child with health issues and then later on ended up being diagnosed with epilepsy at 14, I am telling you these kids that grow up with these unbelievable struggles are the most resilient, kind and they love so deeply that it would amaze you. I know everyone thinks their children are special but it is hard to feel let down and hopeless when you are around these kids because they are such a bright light and it’s contagious. When you feel like things are hopeless you can always count on your child to be the first one to tell you how blessed they are and that they have a life to live, that other kids can’t say that. They are hyper aware I guess from being in the hospital so often that they realize how much worse things could be. They are such a blessing I can’t even explain.
