Hey Alyssa! From the perspective of being a visually impaired mom oh, you are going to do just fine. I think that a lot of the time, we are much more vigilant when it comes to our kids because of the fact that we can't see them like other parents. That said, you have to remember that even sighted people lose their kids. Haven't lost little pablo yet and I pray never too, but my sister who is visually impaired lost her son on the beach. It's all turned out well, but things happen whether we are blind or sighted end I am sure you will be an amazing mom.

Great video Alyssa. I hope you overcome these fears as I know everything will be fine. I know it's not the same with us not being able to do the normal things. My mum lost her sight a few years after my little brothers were born and she did a great job. I didn't read books to my step kids or son, I made my own stories to tell, but I guess it would have been nice to read an actual book. Ever since my sight loss, I have had fears of tall buildings and oncoming vehicles as I'm walking down the sidewalk.

I really appreciate your vulnerability in this video. I can relate to being scared about possible dangerous situations. I also relate to you about the Mom stuff. I feel like I was born to be a mom, but there are some fears that surround that. I think about that I won’t be able to do my daughters make up or paint her nails, and that makes me kind of sad. Also, I learned Braille so that I would be able to read to my future children. I think it was a great decision for me, and I wish you luck with it when you start that process. One more thing, about the wedding stuff, I know you said that you would rather not have a first look, but I have talked to a lot of grooms who say that the first look didn’t ruin the moment of seeing their bride walked down the aisle at all. They still cried when they saw her walking down even though they had already seen her. I had a first look at my wedding, and I’m glad that I did because I got to see his reaction where I wouldn’t have been able to at all from down the aisle. Sometimes even if it’s not how you imagined you wanted to do it it’s good to adjust to what is realistic for you and what would be the best experience for you.

It's funny, I can totally tell our age difference because of this video. One of my biggest fears is that my three-year-old daughter will one day be your age and most likely be with a guy who she loves and will marry. And I am so afraid that I'm going to miss that completely. I already can't see her face so I am afraid of losing the rest. I have to add though I have been happily married for almost 10 years. My wife and I have been together about 13 or a little more. Statistically it shows that couples I have a visually impaired or blind spouse 10 to stay married. No clue why this is but it is a real statistic. Alyssa, have no worries everything works out in the end no matter what. If I had any advice for you though it would be that I hope you and your boyfriend are living together first. If you guys can live under the same roof for three years minimum with no problems you should be good to go on the marriage. That's how I did it at least, once I knew my wife and I were the perfect team if we could get things done no matter what in close confines I knew it was time for me to ask the question. And I'm grateful I did each and every day and I would do 20 times over again. Marriage is awesome. Great video is a very important concern that you have. Well worth talking about.

Hey i too have stargardts and similar visual acuity like yours. Please could you do a video showing what your vision exactly is. Like you can describe what you see, what you can't, how you read something, show how you use a laptop, mobile etc. It would b nice to compare my vision to yours.

@@alyssairene2475 hey thanks for agreeing . Awaiting the video eagerly ! Also do you notice sudden flashes of light in your vision ? Shimmering light that suddenly appears and lasts for few seconds and fades away ?

Hey Alyssa! I watch this video about a week ago but just came across it again. I think you make a lot of really good points here. It’s always interesting and fun to listen to you and your videos. I don’t know if you follow my channel, but I also am a blind RU-vid or. If you’re interested, check out the video I am going to upload later today, Wednesday, March 27. I am going to highlight a bunch of blind and visually impaired RU-vid channels. I would love to see you on that video! Thank you, I look forward to connecting with you soon :-) Matt
