I felt the same way about Robin Givens. That she played the role of this dominant, poised, shot-calling, alpha-female so well that I often wondered "is this her real personality". She is the epitome of an actress. You should watch her in "The Women of Brewster Place" (1989) starring her and Oprah. We appreciated much of the same elements about the film: wardrobe, soundtrack, cast, comedy, plot/storyline and the fact that it was based in NY in the 90s. I liked takeaway message you got from the film. The message I got from it was to treat people the way you want to be treated. Marcus didn't treat women very well (i.e. his neighbor Tisha Cambell's character) and so he wasn't treated very well in return -- boomerang. There was also a point about crossing friendships (Marcus/Gerard and Angela/Jaqueline) and levels to loyalty and character that was a poignant undertone to the movie that I personally zoomed in on. Marcus pursued Angela despite knowing his good friend Gerard had feelings for her and Angela coupled with Marcus despite knowing Jaqueline was involved with him. And then the bond between Marcus and Angela is even crossed -- boomerang.

I watched The Women of Brewster Place a long time ago. It was great. I believe Leon was on that one as Robin’s love interest. She is a great actress and such a beautiful woman. I def can relate to what you got out of the movie Boomerang . Those friendships def weren’t balanced.
