I love palms and that one is gorgeous! I'm in Ohio and my humidifier is set at 40% so I do not have any palms or any plants that require me to add additional humidity so there's that. But I think they are beautiful and just have a carefree tropical look about them that is soothing to me to look at.
When I start to scale back my plants a bit, those high maintenence ones will likely be the first to go, lol. My dream would be to have a big bathroom with a skylight, a hot tub, and lots of palms!
Hey Dylan, great video and a beautiful plant! I sought far and wide here for a kentia palm and finally got one..(ok, two, they were small). I rescued a majesty palm several weeks ago from our Lowe's, and it's starting to recover. My desire would be to have a fishtail palm. They're my very favorite 😍 your palm is gorgeous. I wish they were more affordable. And Spice's premier was greatly timed, that was pretty funny 😁
Kentia palms (Howea) are really expensive, and I haven't figured out why yet. A manager of a greenhouse chain here mentioned they would be getting some in May, so I'm holding off on my video about them until then. Spice always has excellent timing, lol!
@@banesbotanicals1287 Yes, they are, and really hard to find for some reason. Same with fishtail palms. It's really hard especially to find them in a reasonable starting size. I hope you get some really good ones in. I'll keep my eyes out for that video. Spice made a great cameo appearance 🤭
thanks Dylan! i grew a Mexican fan palm from seed; after about 5/6 years it was about two feet tall with 3/4 fronds and a center spear (2022). it was slow but exciting to see the progression of growth. Sadly i had to leave it behind, but i'm sure it's doing very well. 👍🏽
Hey Dylan, I believe the one you have there is licuala grandis, here we call it the "ruffled fan palm" I've got one in my back yard, in the ground, like about 7+feet tall, all the foliage is closer to the top, and a long trunk, bright reddish orange berries, birds sometimes eat them, and I've a few youngsters too, they do prefer bright indirect, dappled light but as you said it can be acclimatize to direct sun, moisture loving, not particularly about soil type I've noticed, quite a statement piece, oh & the lipstick/red sealing wax palm is a gorgeous one too, I just soooo love my palms. 🌴 ❤😊
That sounds amazing 😃If I lived someplace where I could plant it in the ground, I would! I'd love to have a backyard filled with exotic trees. And thank you for mentioning the species. For some reason I forget to do that in my videos sometimes!
