I have a P. pepperomoides, which I have to say I wasn't really a fan of until I actually bought one and watched it grow. The way the leaves shoot out of the crown is really cool.
@@banesbotanicals1287 Some people don't like them because they get kind of wild and unruly and fall over when they get too big, but so far I've been on top of rotating mine to keep it growing in the upwards direction instead of flopping over (and I'm not above beheading it to force it to branch if I have to)
@@DragoniteSpam I've noticed that some plants can be a bit of a mystery when it comes to how big they get, and what shape they become. For example, a lot of people may not realize that Clusia becomes a tree (assuming they've even heard of Clusia). I've never owned a Pilea long enough to see the end result.
I’ve been wanting the Moon Valley Pilea (Pilea Mollis?), but am disappointed to hear that they don’t live very long! Glad to know, though, so I’ll know not to pay much if I do find one! Thank you!
No problem! The only Moon Valley Pilea I've seen are sold by Costa Farms, in the little 4-inch pots. I've heard they aren't the easiest plants to care for.
Hey Dylan. I’ve seen a pilea that has a bumpy textured leaf and is a lime green colour and yesterday I saw an amazing silver gray leafed one that had zig zag edges on the leaves. I’m sorry I don’t know the cultivars.
The species names are not my specialty either! However, I can tell you that the bumpy one is probably the Moon Valley Pilea, which I've only seen sold by Costa Farms. Hope that helps!
