I had a feeling you were setting up a trap. I’ve been in a casino enough times to know that sometimes the odds just don’t pan out, but eventually you hit the long shots. I’ll chalk it up to RNG until Wargaming confirms a bug or no. Again, have to say. Nice setup for confirmation bias, the definition was icing on the cake

This is why I use almost exclusively brawler builds. RNG is gonna do RNG things, so Imma take the shorter reload and keep putting shells down range until something dies.

Personally I don't believe this reset works but I do feel like there is no point in using accuracy inspirations because no matter what you do your going to be effected by RNG so I use damage inspirations. That way ships like my yamato do 17.8k damage per citidel and I'm still reasonably accurate.

@@whereruaaron yea. But if you want my 2 cents I do believe battleships or at least just high tier ones (t7-legendary) should have more consistent guns and I also believe commander skills for battleships should be looked at aswell as for cruisers.

Okay, after hearing your remarks about certain other stats not being affected by this possible bug people are talking about TWICE in this video, I want to make something clear: The reason certain stats for certain commanders (i.e. rudder shift, speed, and concealment) aren't under scrutiny for accuracy commanders here is because THOSE VALUES DON'T CHANGE for a particular ship from SALVO TO SALVO in a match. What IS being questioned is how (LESS) bad some of the shots SHOULD be with accuracy commanders versus how they ACTUALLY are performing. In other words, regardless of whether an opponent has concealment mods or camos onboard, the results between brawling commanders and accuracy-focused commanders is that, at WORST (i.e. increased incoming dispersion builds with camo, concealment mod, etc. On the opposing ship), the shots from accuracy-focused commanders should be BETTER (even if just a little, up to about 10-15% better or more depending on accuracy builds) than shots from a brawling commander. That's what Peek and several others are calling into question. I'm NOT saying that an accuracy commander's shots should be better than a brawling commander's shots 100% of the time, I get that RNG is definitely a factor, but you're WAY off the mark here. And full disclosure, I'm on the fence as to whether this is a bug or not. More research (and stats we can SEE, Weegee!) Is necessary. I just thought it was important to help you see the distinction here for what some guys are trying to say instead of saying something about stats that have NOTHING to do with the topic under discussion. As explained "Max horizontal dispersion" is a set number that doesn't change its listed on PC stats, just not for us

@@whereruaaron You're not getting what I'm saying here, which to be fair, I was quite verbose above. In as few words as possible: Ships have normal max dispersion without any commander builds Ships with accuracy builds should have their max dispersion values changed to reflect the improvement of dispersion, as all accuracy builds include a perk or two that improves overall dispersion specifically by a set percentage Then add in opposing ships' incoming dispersion modifiers, if any. The max dispersion overall, versus other non-accuracy-based commanders regardless of opposing ship builds, should be improved. ^This is what's currently in question.

And if the max dispersion stats aren't altered by the dispersion modifications, then something is wrong. I can also see how there would be an extensive amount of testing in-game necessary to find out whether it is working as advertised, but I would be curious to see it carried out with some way of measuring just how far out shots are landing to visualize and confirm whether this is working.

@@generalgrievous38 I don’t think you get how it works but we might be speaking of the same thing. Dispersion as I said is a set value but can be changed by a few things as mentioned in the video. Sigma or “grouping” is the chance the hit the center of that circle. Ships like musashi have awful grouping 1.65 compared to a ship like Stalingrad at 2.65. You have a circle and then a value or chance to hit shells in the middle of that circle. Those values don’t change. It’s still a roll of the dice every time. you could get all in the middle or all on the outside

@@whereruaaron so, do you understand then that those values that alter dispersion for better or worse in accuracy builds are what some people are getting suspicious about? That's my main goal here. If the commander perks and ship modules say they're modifying the dispersion and grouping to the good, as they do say in-game, and the in-game experience shows after extensive testing (ACTUAL testing, we're not talking seat-of-your-pants thinking here) that that's not the case, that would be a problem then, would it not? Regardless of the details behind what dispersion, grouping, and sigma are, that's what Peek and others' concerns boil down to, whether or not accuracy builds are actually buffing accuracy in the long run. You don't have to agree with whether or not it's true. You may be on point with most other things you say in the video, but I was just so frustrated with how you were framing their concerns, that I wanted to encourage you to understand where they're coming from, whether I agreed or not, which I'm neither.

Bugs are real but so is RNG, this is RNG. Fair video delivered respectfully. The key takeaway is that 'BB mAinS' should switch it up a little and try something with a less frustrating reload time. All classes of ship are fun in this game, gotta try them all.

I don't wear the tin foil hat, but I don't totally discredit either, unless it's blatantly obvious. The one I've been hoping the train is each ship is different for each player. Like my Musashi is more accurate most of the time than my Yammie. My Montana isn't all that great, neither is my Alaska. I know Spartan's stream debunked the myth too. But I digress. Great video. Algorithm bump with the comment and the like.

Good vid. I can't see this going away anytime soon unless it can be tested in training rooms, I know Spartan tested it with the Iowa however Peek thinks the US BBs aren't affected and it's full salvos that work best. The only thing I've noticed is US BBs seem less accurate than 18months ago but I don't know for sure.

Hey man, assuming you’re right, it’s worth noting that all T6+ BBs got concealment mod just a few months ago, and it has an anti-dispersion effect. So, there’s a good chance your shots are less accurate now than even 6 months ago as people have changed to that mod.

Personally I think if your going to want your guns to be more consistent the best way to go is building for sigma rather than trying to shrink the dispersion ellipse. There are so many incoming dispersion skills and it's on camos and everyone basically runs concealment mod and that give 5 percent to incoming dispersion. Iochino and Cunningham are essential for BBs if you want more consistent guns. I have ran Kondo with Cunningham and Iochino with spotter plane and have had great success and I have more heals.

Another topic that is overseen often is that though you can change the commander configuration when a ship is logged in for a division, that changes will have no effect until you logout the ship an log it in again.

A couple of years ago I did have problems with the shown values. Such as my range or concealment wouldn’t change after I put on an inspiration, so I had to swap the commander off then back on to get the value to change. It only happened rarely, but maybe this is similar.

In the menu looking at the stats or when actually playing a game? I’ve seen it happen in port, an inspiration not giving immediate change to the stat it’s supposed to effect (that was a while ago though). If I just left the ship stat screen and went back in, the stats would catch up. I’ve never seen it in an actual game though.

good video all very fair points but when you play one particular ship alot with the same commander setup without change you get to know when RNG is in your favour and when it isn't then there are some games not often but it happens when it feels like you have level 1 Dewey equipped which makes ya wonder is it a possible intermittent bug? more investigation is required I believe and I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a bug

Bug or not but now my Yamato works again and that’s enough for me. And bigger issue is aiming mechanics that are completely broken, and turrets that shoot in different places even if shooting full salvos.

Something that needs to be addressed in these test is that the elipse shape. The shot against the Roma is favorable to the Musashi because Musashi has a more vertical elips so when you compare that shot to the shot against the Kronshtdat who was braodside which works against Musashi it isnt that the accuracy was better so much as it was more favorable to Musashis elipse shape and these need to be taken into account for any testing. The same could be said for ships like Yamato and Iowa which both use the same elipse which is more horizontal than vertical. It really bothers me that people dont know how to do any scientific test when we all learned how to do it in high school. Shots at 15km should not be compared to shots at 5km but to other shots at 15km. Not saying that this video is bad but I've seen a lot of the community not account for these differences which has lead to some seriously confirmation bias so im leaving this here as a psa for anyone that sees this to USE YOUR BRAIN AND BE OBJECTIVE.

I feel that the frustrating thing is that you aim waterline and more than half the shells will fall into the bottom half of the ellipse and miss completely. Unless its close range i generally aim up a bit to try and get deck plunging damage. To me the bug is in that #shellsdontfallshort

In my honest opinion, I think this is a community problem more then anything. The game is in a dull state right now with more casual players flooding the servers by the day. This all adds up to a frustrated and annoyed community that is just nitpicking and looking for something to complain about where there is nothing to complain about. The people who play this game more then the average casual need to just take a chill pill, sit back and relax. Yes, until Wargaming starts adding new content to the game other then just new ships, this will continue to be an issue. However, people need to realize that they are blowing things out of proportion and calling wolf on things that aren't really there. People need to learn to step away from the game time to time and play something else or just focus their time on something more productive. That's my two cents. This is MY opinion. Yes, sometimes things in the game can be frustrating, but at the end of the day, it's just a game. If said game is affecting you mentally or emotionally, maybe it's time to find something else to spend your time on.

You're probably more right than Peek and I combined. Stale gameplay and terrible teammates lends us the need to have the most accurate salvo every shot as we need it to kill all 9 ships when all of our teammates died in 4 minutes

When i joined this game 2 years ago. I could reliably dev strike a lot of flat broadside ships with my yamato... now im lucky to get 1 citadel and 2 shell hits vs 3-5 cits in past lol.

@@whereruaaron camos would be my only real explanation and better commander builds now but it certainly seems like every ship i used to get accurate more consistently, i get less consistent accuracy these days. And i should be improving as a player lol :(

​@@walkinkamikaze when I started playing I'd sail in a straight line and was an easy target. Now I use commanders that buff dispersion, reduce damage and let me react to incoming fire so I avoid salvos. Players getting somewhat better is definitely a factor as much as it doesn't feel like this is the case...

Rng like you said is massive factor, but no way to test fully possibly even with training rooms unless they give you the ability to have anti dispersion and accuracy captains inspirations, as well as camos to be put on the targets. So lets say you have 7% buff to your accuracy etc and then the person has -7% to incoming shells etc, therfore you have 0% increased when firing at that ship. So with rng im not sure how smart it is to factor in these variables. Now with your accuracy etc buffs do we know if the lets say 7% boost to is it applied evenly to your dispersion etc, at all ranges eg 7% tighter in a 6km ellipse is going to look a whole lot better that one at 20km. I think that we all get frustrated faster atm as bb players because we see a rain of fire that just can't seem to miss then you finally get your chance 25+ seconds later to their flat broadside and bam rng says nope then the next salvo its your last shot before dying from bbq and rng says yes delete and your instant comment will be where was that before when i had all my health. I think also as a community people have gotten better at the game the use of camos etc and is there at little to much battle fatigue creeping in amongst the comunity people with 18k+ battles etc ive played since the release ive gotten grind fatigue gameplay fatigue and im well under 9k after so maybe alot of people have just had enough and need a spell from it. Ill would like to put link in comments on this comment, to a clip if thats okay? i had made early in my days of playing and you watch and there is rng at work and there is player skill not at work too lol. But i believe the way the gameplay has improved in the player base from all the great CC and youtube community people have just gotten better as a whole there is now way im surving this in todays increased skill and knowledge player base. Somedays you jump on win 6 straight next day lose 5 win the last one. Now whuch day are you going to be all up in arms about a bug etc. Sorry for the massive ramble and i hope some of this made actual sense lol.

I agree, not a bug a game mech yes. Think about it, wind, weather, seas, location should all effect group, dispersion ect... It makes for a better feel game. It us who have played all the time for years were to be laser all ships, think about the new players. This would be unfair to them and ultimatly ruin the game.

I see a night and day difference playing with bravo and* gixxer than playing with any 2 other players with sub 70%wr 2700avg xp. I get completely different teams. The only bugs or conspiracies I fully 100% support is that there is SOME SORT of skill based matchmaking, there's no other explanation for the difference in games, and, this commander bug. That being said, this IS NOT SOMETHING PEEK FIGURED OUT, he was told by the UFO clan leader..... it is something UFO has known about for years, as Gixxercon brought it up and then we all tried it. We have done it every single update since, and if we are having absolutely shit RNG, we remember to unassign commanders and reassign them, and yes, you still get RNG, but not nearly as bad.

@@whereruaaron I think when you get 3 guys all above 2800 average xp and 76% winrates, you see it for sure. Just sucks that those 2 are the guys I have the most fun playing with, because we are very alike, but we deal with the absolute worst teammates ever 9/10 games. We can split up our division, go separate ways and play with other guys, and abra-cafucking-dabra, teammates suck but not so much we get 3v15 every game.

Bugs galore when I shoot a full volley the RNG seems to screw me 50% of my shots even if I ain't where I'm supposed to and the enemy's sail right into it but they can Instantly kill me with the return fire getting better RNG then I was getting Comanders have nothing to do with the Way RNG works the Calculator is broken when I seems RNG screws up alot I've seen it first hand with before the years updates where certain ships even after calculations are made shots are taken were volleys goes everywhere with using right Comanders and perks and everything that ur supposed to run. I did my research as well others have seen this also and felt the pain of bad RNG. They need to fix the RNG generators because it's only gotten worse with most BBs,CC,DD and now carriers are offected as well.

Maybe my imagination but I almost stopped playing my Montana. Which I started with dispersion build it was awesome. Stopped playing cause it seemed I lost it. Did the reset 40k damage to a Yamato and dev struck a Worcester very next game. Hmmm like peek said, I can count.

My mushi never had an accuracy problem sometimes it could shoot better slavos than my yamy so yeah I personally don't have this problem

There is no way to test this theory even with training rooms, you would have to lock RNG. Gixxercon said he first noticed this bug with a concealment inspiration. This doesn't happen now so if there was a bug it stands to reason that it was fixed and only fixing it for some inspirations doesn't make sense. But it cannot be proven one way or another and we all must believe what we believe and should state it as that, a belief not a fact. Good video

You can easily test it in training rooms. You sit 10KM from a target and track the shots, yes you will get variables but you should get less hits if the accuracy commanders are not working correctly

@@whereruaaron RNG seems to be too large of a variable to not control for to be able to prove/disprove it. It's why everyone complains about RNG one minute laser beams the next a shotgun. Without controlling for RNG your sample size of salvos would have to be pretty large. IMO

@@zman6231 Yes you can track RNG. You sit at the same range and take 100 or so salvos with one build and then another 100 or so with another build and calculate the average. You learn this in high school.

By only using your memory of past shots as data points? I did not reset my Musahi and had multiple shots that people would claim as "laser beams" its confirmation bias but if you want to waste commander XP no one is stopping you

I don't play dds that much and to be honest I'm pretty fair with them. I don't believe all the hype that's going on about a bug. If every ship had lazer beams then the game would get boring. As a game I love/hate it but I still keep coming back for more to strive to be better and a better player. So play you're best every game and regardless try to win and help the team when and where you can.

I think the only other build that could remotely be used to try a "scientific method" on whether this is even a thing would be the montpellier anti dispersion build. The other problem I have with updates and this whole arguement are "shadow nerfs/buffs" which I will admit I'm a tin foil hat wearer for that one lol hand on bible WG does shit n not tell us 🙄

@@whereruaaron Yes and I agree with you just was in the troll mood. sorry.RNG is the worst though and there is no chance to test this in a trusty way to much hidden stats on Legends.On a note playing less battles in a week seems to improve your chanses of better RNG but I can not confirm that either.

Great edit and you make a good piont , I tend to think you are spot on , dispersion builds / command perks are getting stronger , just as accurate perks are stacking up ? So equals out or even goes in the dispersion favour? I do believe shells drop short at close range !!!😡🤬😳🙃🥹
