Not only is this a slap in the face for those who grind the game but it also proves that EA where lying when they said they wanted to make icons more affordable. They didn’t take out needing icons to complete SBCs for that reason they done it as needing “fodder” in a sbc will make people want to open packs more then needing a icon as you get fodder in most packs you open with Fifa points where it’s very unlikely to get a icon so people would be put off.

All icons should be released as sbcs.

Completely agree, as an avid menu grinder, both League SBCs and as a trader, the top tier cards that everyone should have some form of access to, whether it be in Icon Swaps or as Icon SBCs, are nye on impossible to get. The ‘black market’ is very poor, but I 100% agree that it stems from the inaccessibility of the cards. It is unfair on those who have spent any money on in-game currency and hopefully EA wake up to the fact that “the most accessible Icon programme ever” has not yet come to fruition. It doesn’t really bother me at what point of the year they come, clearly it shouldn’t be too early so people’s teams are way ahead of the power curve and EA’s plans, but EA, alongside points, actually make it a fun game to play and grind to get the big cards at the end point, whether that be R9 or Pele or CR7, and whether that be in November, February or August for people, it shouldn’t have to come down to people paying staggering amounts of money on virtual cards that lose their worth after 10 months. Something in the back of my mind tells me we are getting BABY R9 in Swaps 3, a card well behind the power curve by the time it comes out, and they are going to taut it as bringing one of the best icons in the game to people. what it also shows is that their marketing department is kinda genius. It's incredible how they've made some pixels on a screen that will be COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT in a couple of months so desirable. So many people agree that the gameplay isn't fun and playing the game can be extremely frustrating. Still EA manages to generate a lot of hype for every single promo every week

As someone who’s put money into the game, this is extremely upsetting. I could have just saved my money from buying fifa points and just purchased the players I wanted. Absolutely ridiculous. And there’s no way EA didn’t know this was happening.

The whole point of “Ultimate Team” is to build YOUR ultimate team with the players you like to use. EA make this impossible with so many cards being unattainable. It needs to be easier. If everyone has super teams after a few months then so be it. It will be more skill based then but hopefully would allow people more freedom in teams instead of just using players they are forced to use.

Personally what I think they should do to make icons truly more accessible is to boost their pack weight for those who spend fifa points, add in far more icon sbcs and have better players in them for those who grind menus, and add in some long icon milestones where you can unlock icons for grinding the game if that's what you want to do

Who remembers FIFA 18. Prime R9 was offered on the transfer market, but the difference is he was accessible. He was also a SBC. This means he was once again accessible . These days Accessible to EA means either funding one of their shite ea help workers salary by paying thousands of pounds on fifa points or buying players from them. Joke of a business. We used to have fun playing fifa. It wasnt about abusing the meta like we have so much the last 2 years, it was about who could build cool teams with cool players. It was about that feel of waking up to open that pack that you worked so hard to get, not the feel of having to go to argos tomorrow to buy a new controller after smashing the previous. We all loved FIFA , but now we dont even know why we still play the damn thing. I used to love playing the daily knockout tournament to get into the weekend league, with that feel of accomplishment everytime. When you just had fun playing fifa. If you packed Ronaldo, you were the king of the school. If you didnt play fifa, it was like you had missed out on your childhood. I just want to go back.

I think at the beginning of a fifa cycle you should be able to pick an icon, but at a very diminished version say like an 80 rated. And every in By end of October you can do objectives to get it up to a baby, then November mid and mid January prime, then March-April we can get it upgraded to moments. Everyone loves to use icons it’s fun having that nostalgia, and you don’t have to give OP icons but give the people access to players like an Essien, a butra or a Carlos Alberto for example. It will keep people engaged and I think just allow people to finally feel rewarded

Let’s make an petition to get a free PIM pack. This is not acceptable.

They can make it so simple. Each icon cost hours of your play or at least a 2 million more than a player of the year. Put the limits in price, so we don’t have a 20 million coins players on market. Reward people for playing the game and based on their skills and points, not their luck and their money. More you play, closer you are to that R9 or Ronaldinho..✌🏻

They should do this its simple, Every 5 to 10 packs you get a gurantee inform/special card When you pack a special card you can no longer pack that card which increases the price of the lower cards and gives you that same feeling of opening packs now but with a better chance, i think duplications need re working and consumables shouldnt be in packs

A step in the right direction would be a cross platform market. Just fuse the market of every console together. Everything becomes cheaper because it exists alot more.

The problem isn’t just that the cards are unobtainable and people are spending thousands, more than half the community every year spends hundreds of pounds anyways to upgrade their team, that’s where the problem lies, don’t have micro transactions in game , up the pack weight so if you do buy a pack it’s only when you have grinded the game to get the coins for it! Stop fifa points , coins selling!

I agree 100% with Nep. The BIGGEST problem AI the availability of icons - the average player will never use a TOP tier meta prime moments icon. They’re aren’t just expensive - they are extinct or limited. And I get that they should be rare. But they should be obtainable. R9 is not obtainable - that’s why people pay R9 owners JUST to list him on the transfer market

The biggest issue for me is the fact that you get 500 coins for a game, but the players cost up to 15mil. This forces trading and dodgy shit like this. Why are players not upgradable like fifa Mobile? Why do games not give more money? Why are players so much?

EA can track markets of millions of cards every day 24/7 trying to discover illegal coin sellers but never notice that someone randomly have recived 3 Icon Prime Moments for no reason, it seems clear to me that a lot of people in EA already knew this situation and probably splitting profit between them self. The solution is quite easy, put in the game a section called "price list" where you can buy any card of the game at their maximum price range. It would be interesting also to add in this list SBCs and objectives cards only when they are no longer available, obviously at a higher price then the SBC it self, but so the card will be always available for anyone at anytime. This price list section must be the last chance to get a card so also this gambing system which bring them billions will be safe.

I don’t feel like playing fut champs anymore . Feels so pointless when we don’t get rewarded properly especially how bad pack weights are. At the end of the day it’s a pay2win game

This issue with the market is that there is a massive gap between a good card and a phenomenal card, you cant work your way up to that card, its just one massive leap. The top tier icons are impossible to obtain by most people. You are lucky to get even one of those players within the one year of playing that game before moving onto the next. Buying those cards seems a lot better for that price compared to spending the same on fifa points to only have 1-3 million coins and barely being able to afford mid eusebio. I know id rather buy 3 icon moments. Gold cards as you covered earlier today, are stupidly cheap, then icons are a massive step if you want the best of the best, there is no middle ground which makes this game the worst of all fifas in my opinion.

For me the solution is simple. If you complete icon swaps 1 you get to choose whatever base icon you want. Same with Icon swaps 2 and middle version and Icon swaps 3 with Prime version. Would be 3 guaranteed Icons of your choice but you also have to be clever about how you do it. For example if you love R9 you can get his base version in the first few months and have him for the rest of the game cycle or be patient and wait for his Prime Version. Who agrees?

I said this at the start of the game and I’ll say it again. GIVE everyone a player pick at the start of the game with a baby or mid icon containing some of the best most meta icons, not the same tho, So like Nick gets mid Gullit, baby R9, baby Cruyff, mid Ronaldinho and baby Seedorf, but James gets Mid Eto’o, baby Rio, mid Maldini, mid Blanc and baby Zizou This would mean that everyone gets to choose an icon to use most of the year and build teams around and all that and then when Moments comes out, the same thing happens because it’s time to change up the squads a bit. I think do it with icons because some people just want to play with players whom they loved watching when they were growing up. This is a game, not life, so start letting it be more of a fun activity rather than a chore.

Think it may even run deeper. Its honestly got to the point where EA are so distant, on another planet even, from their player/user base. Simply due to the fact that they know, no matter what, they can rinse your time and your money without even bringing out good content or giving back in the slightest. Game cycle after game cycle, year after year, thousands upon thousands of pounds and hours. There's no interaction, feedback or honesty from EA's side. They're just one big money making machine, that has zero emotion when it comes to any part of their game. Its the sad reality, and where a lot of this sort of thing stems from. The problem is that EA do make them accessible to anybody playing the game... you just have to be the equivalent of a lottery winner to pack one. I’m not saying this is right at all I’m just saying EA have a model that most likely avoids all the legal pitfalls.

If they're easily accessible then it takes away their value and there's no longer any reason to use any other cards and there's also nothing more to work towards in the game. It would take away the point of promos, weekend league, objectives and everything else in the game because the point of the game is to make your ultimate team. If everythings easily accessible then there's no work to make your ultimate team and completely takes away the point of the entire game mode

I’ll be very honest. I understand why some of this cards are not accessible for everyone cause they are the best cards in the game. Imagine everyone having prime moments R9. However if people spent a lot of time on the game, they should be able to achieve any card. As it’s just a yearly game. Hence why my suggestion would be have every icon sbc available at one time. And bring back monthly rewards. I am bad at trading and eveything but I play the game. I love gameplay. However champs and rivals are one of the least rewarding methods
