Unfortunately I can not play longer clips due to fair-use of (C)opyright'ed records.

Nice to see another Technics turntable on RU-vid. I got the SL1210 MK2 :)

Need to make one correction. The SL 1700 does not have a quartz lock mechanism. The orange strobe light and the 45 and 33 dials allow you to get as close as possible to speed accuracy. But again there is no quartz lock on this particular turntable.

The gathering! you made my day!, here in the USA no one knows about that band. Saludos! I found this turnatable in a local shop and I ma seriously thinking in buying , (that's how i found your video) Is the motor noise too noticeable?

As far as I remember it is quite silent.

Brilliant deck, no motor noise. If produced today would cost over 2k.

Hi, does anyone use TECHNICS SL 1700 for mixing purpose ?

Are the rca outputs line level or do you need a separate phono preamp?
@renerebe
@renerebe 2 года назад
For most , especially this vintage, you need a phono pre amp .

Hey! I have the same TT. Mine is missing the dust cover. Do you know where I could get a replacement?
@renerebe
@renerebe 5 лет назад
well, only the usual ebay, craiglist, etc. I guess, or having luck in "new old stock" sales somewhere, too, ..?

Wrong, wrong, wrong! Why are you online with this when you don’t know what you’re taking about? It’s not quartz. The 1700 Mk II is quartz but not this. You didn’t show the return from the dead wax which is the best feature of the 1700 as compared to the 1200. You don’t go over any comparison to the 1200 which is the whole point of this product. But the worst assertions are that Stylus damage records. This is flat out stupid and wrong. Finally, Digital does not sound better than good vinyl on a good system (one that might include a 1700 in the hands of someone who knows a few things).
@renerebe

wrong wrong wrong. Stop spreading fake news. Analog stuff is always lesser, imprecise reproduction. and obviously the record and stylus degrade over time too. Modern, good digital is a perfect reproductoin of the recorded signal though. And also not even degrade re-playing it back over and over.

there is an old saying "paper never refused ink" I think with this guy it's "youtube never refused bullshit" what an idiot.
