We're back in the dark, Steampunk, zombie-infested world of They Are Billions! This game may be a few years old now, but it's still a blast! For this run, I'm going to push myself with a max difficulty Frozen Highlands map. That means maximum infected, very little food, huge power drains, and only 73 days before the final wave hits. Can we survive?

@@SepakanSudut As a workaround you can use the save and quit function when you want to save, then make a copy of the save file. Obviously a bit more long winded then an in-game save system, but functionally the same.

@@torgranael the game is written in c# so it has "modding tools" out of the box in the shape of reflection, you can use it to assemble/hack together own modding api. this depends on the level of abstraction made by the devs, eg. if you have a hardcoded value, you have a hardcoded value, Very annoying to remove and kinda depends on .net version. using reflection only requires a lot of skill too. modders usually do charity work when they have the free time, they create what they enjoy, so they Could technically do it, but it's annoying and heartbreaking that when an attempt is made, it results in a ban on the forum, warning issued by the devs, it's just toxic behaviour from the then which discourages everything.

I love the early portions of this game where you're scrabbling and scratching for everything you can, desperately watching for any breaches in your defenses. It's later when the waves really get big that I lose interest (though it is really fun to watch a 'wave' of zombies break around your walls like water), so I'm super keen to see more of this from you!

I feel that the south mutant is the first one Pravus should go for and hopefully it will pull over the SW one also. The mutant to the west is behind the infected village, no way to approach it without tackling that too. Way too risky without a large army.

Everyone does the sniper meta. Makes sense. Its the meta. However, soldiers give you the power of micro. Because you can A key+left click in rapid succession on a target to fire ridiculously fast with them. Theyre cheaper, they dont require tech, and theyre much more tanky compared to snipers. Its a fun way to challenge yourself and give you more early game power. Works with rangers as well, but since their projectile isnt hit scan you can overkill small targets. Arrows cost money, theoretically

concept of this game is okay. but honestly game is kinda shit. maybe im just bad, but other RTS games I have no issue. this was the first RTS I had issues beating completely. I got about halfway and yeah. fail every time. maybe im not learning the game properly because i have other RTS game skills so it doesn't correlate? but yeah. game is annoying.

You have to balance economy, defense and offense perfectly. Also the game purposefully tests your defense and throws stuff at your weak points. It wants to kill you. A lot of games are catered to at least a little forgiveness. This one is completely unforgiving. You screw up. You die. Spike traps are also totally slept on.

An interesting trick I learned to help out is the health bars you typically need to hold them but if you set it to num pad and then hold it and turn off the number pad controls they'll stay on giving you more info

6:00 - They are Billions is about pucker factor 10. If you pucker factor while playing the game isn't 5 or higher, you are playing it wrong. The game is meant to be challenging. If you make a major mistake, you should have to choose from several bad choice of which only 1 might allow you to survive. Yes, mutants have caused me to lose a good number of games, but there is a lot of excitement in those losses and it makes me feel all the better when I pull out of a situation that would previously cause me to lose. I know that I am just that little bit better at the game. It is actually advancement in game skill or tactics. To mitigate this, the game has variable difficulty a pause feature that allows you to calm down when things get too intense for you. As such, mutant are acting as intended and skilled players adapt to overcome this challenge. So, if mutants caused all the soy boys to leave the game, I say, great job!

Got 700 hours in this game. Not actually great at it. But i love the challenge. Certainly cant explode the population like you used to be able to early game, with those Mutants, but I like the tension of it.

They really captured lighting in a bottle with this game,it shows a lot of promise if the game gets a sequel for numentian games to tweak the formula some,but alas. silence endless silence. atleast the first game remains playable,glad to see you revisit it
