I did a rebuild on a Suzuki PE175 back in 1983 and it was the best dam bike I had by far. I sold my Suzuki GT550 triple to buy the PE because from a standing start to 70Mph it blew my GT550 into the weeds. My mate owned a Honda 550 four at the time and he scoffed at my stupidity so I asked him to clock me down the seafront to see how I did. It was immensely satisfying to hear him say *"...fucking hell I couldn't stay with you..."* I'm now 61 years old and I still look out for PE175s but I'm just kidding myself. Great bike and great days from an era long gone by but very sorely missed.

I had one for 15 years put fuel in and ride, never had any issues, gave it to my son, it beat all the modern motos big or small with its unbelievably good power to weight ratio.

Great summer time content video Matt, love to see these old girls revived and loved again. I recently found a 1984 Yamaha IT 175 in Saskatoon that is mint shape for sale. I had an 1984 IT 250 back in the day and loved the old tractor. Would love to buy this one that I found but the wife would string me up by the you know what’s!! 😱 keep up the great videos on the bike builds they are fun to watch and will tie me over until the sledding videos start up again. 👍😁

indyseven hey I live near saskatoon, how much were they asking for the bike? Looking for something older just to cruise around on

@@jayboutkan3132 just checked Kijiji to see if it was still listed. Unfortunately it looks as though it has been sold. If I remember correctly they were asking $2500 for it. It looked brand new off of the show room floor!

I had a mint condition it250, 82' And this thing was absolutely mint! Only problem it was a little too big for me. In that only tip toes touched ground. So I sold it. First guy low balled & told him thanks but no thanks. He called back wanting to pay full price I was asking. I didnt reply. Sold it to next guy for $1200 and he actually thanked me for the deal. Said it was the nicest bike hed looked at. Had original paint on engine so very few hrs. Was a garage queen its whole life. Belonged to a yamaha tech who rode another bike. Had resetable odometer which said 240. Wudn surprise me if that never been touched.

I have a 1980 pe175 that i got running 2 summers ago. Bought it for 90 bucks put a top end and some other parts in it and got her running. Biggest issue is that the gas tank kept cracking. I would patch it then a week later another crack appeared. I ended ip plastic welding it 4 times till i gave up so i cut the bottom out and hid 2 smaller lawn mower tanks under it. But no i found a random 70s honda tank that fits perfectly. Plus its metal so i wont have cracking issues. Edit: i did some digging and the tank is from a 1979 honda xl100s

It kinda sucks telling a customer that what they did to try to fix things is gonna cost them a bunch extra, but them's the breaks!

just ditch the old carb and order a replacement off Amazon or eBay...did it for my daughters kx125 and no regrets. especially when the new pwk only cost 75 USD. it's a sudco keihin copy but works great

@@syxxes i couldn't find a float valve for my 1980 pe175 so i bought a genuine mikuni carb from oem cycle on ebay. Before that i put a 35 dollar china carb on it and the floats sunk just enough after sitting that when i started it after winter it became a runaway 2 stroke. At the time i didnt have a kill switch so i pulled the spark boot and the spark gave me quite the tickle. It also spit raw fuel about 15 feet out the exhaust onto the snow. I honestly dont understand how it ran for those few seconds but it did. I also have a pic as proof of the 15 foot sh*t stain my bike left in the snow. Thankfully my engine was ok and i didn't trash my brand new rebuild. After putting the genuine carb on its been running good since.
