Anyone who doesn't recognize that this is UNDOUBTEDLY a 5 mic album is bugging and likely wasn't listening to it when it was actually out...I remember this was one of those albums that you had to press people to return it if you lent it to em...production and rhymes are probably the strongest album wide of all of their albums...name a weak song on it? Mahogany...Ghetto...Run for Cover and the title track has lyrics I STILL put up against anyone's in rap to this day...I definitely have this on my all time top rap albums...had no idea it had 5 mics and YES they got it right

Rakim flow never got old. His style is his style. His flow goes with whatever beat he raps on. That's what makes Rakim, Rakim. He never use the same cadence like some rappers do. His vocals was like an instrument. Large Pro helped a lot on the production on that album.

I've heard that same "rumor" about Large Pro and a lot of his "ghost production"

What Ya'll fail to understand. Is Rakim is doing the Most High work, not man's work .big difference alot of us is doing their human master work.

Yes...this is the album that solidified Ra taking lyricism to the acme. People let's remember the timing. We must know eras to determine our response.

'No Omega' is one of the best Rakim Lyrical masterpieces. A lot of Rakim's music goes over peoples heads. The sample used in the record is James Brown 'Gotta have a Mother for Me'. Sample is sick give the record a listen. If you skip No Omega I doubt if you understand what it means to be a lyrical on a record. Rakim raps for like 90 bars straight with no hook. It's not a club record. It's a ferocious, fierce battle record. Facts you missed in your discussion: Paul C produced 'run for cover' and 'in the ghetto'. He died and Large professor took over the production on those records. Large was an understudy of Paul C. You have to remember, this is 1990. The discussion seems to bounce back and forth from a classic album in 1990 and a classic album of 2024.

This Album gave birth to the Dark Beats boom bap slow flow sound that came after in 91, 92, 93,94 and so on in 87,88, mostly James b samples were being used 89ish 90, 91 jazz sample beats were popular. Game changer y’all bugging out

One thing i haven’t heard anyone speak on is this album is their last one? if I’m not correct. And during this time they were having issues as a group because they broke up afterwards So i feel like it was a forced creation if you having issues with someone after all yall success together and now your being told your under contract go make another classic That’s hard to do the energy isn’t the same as Paid In Full But RAKIM is timeless and was the Master of his time so many were inspired
