Translation: Sandy Nelson (Dec. 1, 1938 ~ Feb. 14,2022) is on a very long list of artists still NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. These are some of my all-time favorite drummers (Mostly 60s & 70s) in no particular order from "BackintheDay". "Let There Be Drums" is a 1961 instrumental song composed by American drummer SANDY NELSON and guitarist RICHARD PODOLOR, who later became a renowned record producer. The piece is a guitar and drums duet and is an early example of surf music. It was released as a single on Imperial Records. Sandy Nelson está en una lista muy larga de artistas aún no está en el Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Estas son algunas de mis bateristas de todos los tiempos favoritos en ningún orden en particular de "BackintheDay". Sandy Nelson (born Sander L Nelson, December 1, 1938, Santa Monica, California) is an American drummer. Nelson, one of the best-known rock drummers of the early 1960s, had several solo instrumental Top 40 hits and was a session drummer on many other well-known hits, and released over 30 albums. "Let There Be Drums" is a 1961 instrumental song composed by Sandy Nelson and guitarist Richard Podolor, who later became a renowned record producer. The piece is a guitar and drums duet and is an early example of surf music. His song "Teen Beat", on Original Sound Records, rose to #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1959. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. Subsequently he signed with the Imperial record label and pounded out two more Top 40 hits, "Let There Be Drums", which went to #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Drums Are My Beat". In December 1961. Near the end of 1963, Nelson was in a motorcycle accident. The injuries necessitated amputation of his right foot and part of that leg. Nonetheless, Nelson continued to record into the early 1970s, releasing two or three albums a year, consisting of cover versions of popular hits plus a few original compositions. ~ Info on Sandy Nelson was derived from Wikipedia.

Would love more information on this video, Ive always loved this song and yet I know not of what happened or why all these drummers are paying tribute? If you have any links you could forward? I'd greatly appreciate it. As I don't know what I'm really looking for. Thankyou

Sandy was one of the best. As a Bass player we have close ties with drummers .Without the Bass and drums a song has no foundation. People started paying attention to drummers just like Jaco did for Bass players because of Sandy.

That's okay. You did an awesome job putting this video together. I had no idea that Stevie Wonder was ever a drummer. I only thought he only played the keyboards and piano. How awesome!!! Here's a piece of trivia. Before making it big, Marvin Gaye played drums on some of Motown's earlier recordings of the 60s. Oh, while this has mothing to do with drums, Sandy Nelson was actually a high school class mate of the music duo, "Jan and Dean."
