Letoon was founded in the name of #Leto, the mother of Artemis and Apollo. According to mythology, Leto, who fled from Hera when Zeus fell in love with her, gave birth to her children on the island of Delos. Then she followed the Xanthos River and wandered to the place where the Temple of Leto is located. An unhappy end awaited the people who did not allow her to bathe her children in the spring there. It is not difficult to believe that mothers can turn a whole village into frogs for the sake of their children.
The Letoon Archaeological Site has been on the #UNESCO World Heritage List since 1988, and when you see it, you will not believe that there is such a story behind it.
