She lives at a yard that has about 50 other horses - this is not at my home. She does not live on her own, I am very aware of how to own a horse. She is not depressed. Perhaps don’t leave comments leaving unsolicited advice when you don’t know any of the facts

Everyone’s opinions are different. My opinion is that horse racing is the same as other horse sports - racing is just more widely spoken about because more people engage with it (attending the races for a day out etc). Like most things there are bad apples & so there are bad trainers and unethical practices in all disciplines, not just racing, of which I do not support whatsoever as they ruin the sport for the ethical and caring people. The majority of racehorses are treated better than your average horse and have access to the best care around. I see nobody talking about the traveller community with their malnourished horses chained up on the side of busy roads and making them travel on concrete (incredibly bad for horses legs) alongside their cars. People just jump on an anti-racing bandwagon when there are so many other things that need attention. Injuries are not just in racing, they happen in all sports and it’s just a really unfortunate fact that horses cannot withstand many leg injuries (not just in racing but in general). The number of horses that have to be euthanised in racing compared to how many racehorses there are is actually incredibly low. More horses are euthanised as a result of road traffic accidents & injuries at home - not on a racecourse. On the whole it would be hypocritical of me to condemn horse racing when I compete in eventing myself - which also involves galloping and jumping. Of course this is just my opinion so I hope I can leave this comment here without anyone jumping on this and being rude
