Joe, that was an amazing journey and has to be the best finished D10V I have ever seen. As I said when I sent you the kit I have seen lots of 10Vs built on RU-vid but as far as I know nobody has built the twin cylinder D10V. As usual museum quality build but with lots of tips and novel methods thrown in for good measure. I have built one and wish mine had been to that standard. The pleasure in your voice as you built it proved sending it to you was a good move and I certainly got as much pleasure watching the progress as you appeared to from constructing it. A fantastic job and the usual Joe Pie quality. Thank you for the pleasure the video series bought me and made sending the kit a good move. Keep safe and healthy. Steve Bright BRight Model Engineering

The way it runs so slowly and sounds so regular is a big part of my enjoyment. The way the parts were machined and the logical train of thought to make sure it’s accurate is just wonderful to watch. There can’t be too many built as well as this.

Absolutely beautiful work. There are much more efficient machines now days but those old devils would run forever with very little maintenance. I worked over 40 years in a steam power plant where we had a few reciprocating pumps, turbine driven pumps and steam turbine generators. Good to see the tradition carried on. Thanks Joe.

The flywheel sits low because it’s a marine engine. They’re designed to sit as low as possible to keep the weight down in the boat & the flywheel will sit between the wooden bearers that the engine sits on. I’ve restored a few vintage Stuart Turner marine 2-stroke engines & they all had low flywheels too. Beautiful work as always Joe.

I am a new subscriber as of July 19, 2024. A dear friend introduced me to you with this video. He is a top notch Machinist with a strong history of automotive, especially in the drag racing realm. My back ground is in engineering, design and drafting. I am grateful for the 20 plus years that I have at the board before ever sitting down at a computer. This is a great video, just enough details to explain this motor. I am going to be watching this series from the beginning since it pleases and intrigues me. My favorite characteristic of this motor is the sound of it running.

@@joepie221 I started watching the series on this build. It is one of the best series on any topic that I have seen. As soon as you started your set up and machine work I was surprised at the uncanny similarities that you and another Machinist have, Kurtis with CEE. Your practices, principles, level of inventiveness, knowledge of materials and your equipment, most importantly your commitment to excellence are so parallel that it is show stopping. The main exception, which only serves to enhance the similarities, is the scale of your work. Very extreme when set side by side. I thoroughly enjoy watch you both work, and love your teaching styles. Thank you for sharing your talents and abilities.

Good morning Joe, I note the "exposed pin" watchers won the day, I shall submit to the popular opinion as it all looks excellent. On the timing of the steam admission and exhaust there are lots of very good old books on this subject, once set up at 90 degrees the fine adjustment is called Lap and lead, most vertical engines have a little extra lead to compensate the inertia on the down stroke. Thanks for the build. Ray.
