Lets Play Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Part 34 - Final Treasure Roads 

1. A boss can cancel all attempts at freezing it by performing an action that has a lot of movement to it like jumping which wild frosty does a lot of. And 2. I kinda disagree with you about the game being obligated to remind you of that move. First of all the very first ice treasure road was entirely dedicated to teaching you that move and it expects you to remember what it goes out of the way to teach. Is it really the games fault that you forgot about a move that it went out of its way to teach. That's like saying that a mario game has to remind you how to ground pound every time you see a button on the ground. Especially since the move in question isn't really necessary for the treasure road in question. It was only useful to slightly more effectively kill the boss that wasn't really the purpose of the level. Also regarding loading tips. Have you seen how quickly this game loads, especially when attempting to restart a treasure road.

Btw, in the first desert level, there is a secret broken fence at the very end. It’s a path that leads to… somewhere :)

This is actually the first Kirby game in a while to not have full move combo lists available in the pause menu for every ability. I always thought it was a bit strange.

I hardly used the mashy-attack with ice on that treasure road, it absolutely isn't required. There was a road dedicated to teaching you the mechanic as well but It's understandable to have forgotten it. I just think that if you're going for the Gamer Times that you should probably expect the game to ask you to make Gamer Plays without it telling you

Don't forget the three secret areas! To narrow down where you have to look, they're in Rocky Rollin' Road, The Wondaria Dream Parade, and Burning, Churning Power Plant.

Why do I get the feeling that Dedede Hammer will be the new Meta Knight Sword? 😂 It's better than Wild Hammer, so make sure not to forget to switch back to it!

This series has been so great that it finally convinced me to get Forgotten Land for myself. It’s took me only three days to get 100% completion. Now I have to go back to waiting for stuff to come out. Feels bad

So now that you've done all the treasure roads, you get to do the hidden treasure roads! There are two hidden treasure roads in each area/zone/I don't know what they're called in this game please don't hurt me it's been a while since I finished it. I know you've found some of them but I'm pretty sure there are still some out there. To find them, you have to go around the overworld map until you find an area where you can press A to search. They're usually pretty conspicuous - spots that stand out but don't have anything on them currently.

20:04 yeah, the hammer is a big favorite in the Kirby fandom because of stuff like that. If you get that big hit off on a boss, it’s a weapon of mass destruction

Huh... So that last Treasure Road taught us some things. For one, apparently the "surround yourself with ice by mashing B" attack does more damage than the ice spray. I honestly didn't know that. And for two, Frosty didn't freeze that easily not because he's an ice enemy, but because you weren't doing enough damage fast enough. You kept using the ice spray attack to freeze him but that does less damage. Also, bosses can cancel the ice effects by jumping around or moving around a lot. But Ian, if you didn't like ice in this game, don't worry. Ice is way more fun to use in the 2D games, simply because it has a bigger moveset.

Yeah. The real trick to that Ice challenge is figuring out exactly why Frosty is so difficult to freeze, and how to circumvent that.

I've been enjoying this series and some others by you as well, I'm glad to have caught this episode so early!

What a nice episode, I understand it may have been frustrating in the moment when remembering the ice ability had a second move but many others have completed that treasure road without using it so I don't agree with the idea of having the game remind you of that move in that exact instance because it's not necessary. Also it's a shame you're not a fan of the ice ability because it was my personal favorite. It is definitely more difficult than fire because of the shorter range and you need to play around the boss's movement based attacks (not very easy when every boss loves running around) but I liked it because I found the idea of dodging and learning the bosses patterns to pick up when you can completely freeze them to deal massive damage to be a more rewarding experience. As opposed to mindlessly spewing fire from a distance and having the instant damage over time fire defeat bosses in less than in a minute. That's just my opinion though so don't let that stop anyone from playing how they want to, there's definitely a satisfying feeling when watching a bosses health bar rapidly shrink.

BTW Ian, you noticed you could bring in your powerups into the treasure stars, but you never brought in the one that boosts your strength which would have made all the boss fights so much easier lmao

The only time BLG ever played a Sonic game for the channel was when Ian and Brandon played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle way back in the day. I don't remember if they finished the Let's Play though.

Frosty ice doesn't freeze enemies with the mashy move. Blizzard ice does though.

I'm ankther viewer in the "ice is my favorite ability" crew. It's more about tactics and set-ups, I think. The big damage on freeze occurs if you can cover an enemy in ice completely before they break free.

wild they technically hadn't played a sonic game at this point i havent seen the angry birds movie, i'm not upset what's interesting is that they DO have those tips in the Return to Dreamland version of basically this

I'm not named Jeff, but I do know a Jeff who's a pretty cool guy. So, I haven't actually seen it, but apparently the Angry Birds movie has a lot of barely-hidden racial stereotyping and white supremacist dogwhistles. So I have no intention of seeing it, either. I think the speed boost actually made the car one harder. You were moving faster, so it was harder to control and easier to go off-course, especially with jumps spaced for regular max speed. And yeah, frosty ice is a terrible treasure road. As far as I can tell, you more or less need to get a freeze off to make the time, and as you experienced, there's some luck involved there.

a death montage, or fastforwarding through failed attempts sounds like a happy medium between showing every attempt vs skipping to the successful attempt. I like hearing yall commentate, but ngl, it gets super boring watching you do the same level over and over. Maybe its just the ADHD, but i usually use your videos as background noise lol. even then if im being real, the one and only time i ended up skipping through a video has to be when you were doing that dragon fire treasure road, where you gotta light a cannon rope and melt away a shit ton of ice.
