@@lucasvbf No, sorry I just meant he seems so unbothered but the changing or styles and the like that I’m amazed he ever agreed to wear one. He seems to not care about it haha
the absolute last thing i expected in this day and age is a Slipknot renaissance, but it seems thats what we are getting, lets hope whatever music they release in the future proves me right
@@PSYCHOV3N0M of course it doesn’t have to be all songs. There were just a few on the first two and then one on the third, but they all worked perfectly.
@@angel_of_rust i dont want them to write Iowa or self titled again, in fact i actually want them to lean into the more experimental stuff in vol3, if they just made old albums again it would get boring
Im not gonna lie i loved the era’s with jay and what he brought to the band musically and with what he brought artistically but there’s something special going on right now with slipknot you can tell with their few performances so far they are rejuvenated and are full of energy again and the creativity is high
I believe Eloy's mask with just a gunshot mark on the head refers to death. He has to die to reborn his Slipknot personality. This is similar to what was done with Vman and Jay in the music video where they are killed by band members and are reborn as Slipknot. It must be something of this concept and this mask will change.
According to Mick’s wife, a new hybrid mix of the old leather and his current mask was in the works, but apparently it just wasn’t turning out the way Mick wanted it. Bummer because that would have been cool to see.
My thoughts on the Eloy/Jeff masks were that it could be a nod to the original Pale Ones aesthetic with them going back to 99 styles, where the masks were more about blanking out who they were than having personalities and characters of their own. Can’t wait to see how they evolve
I’m not gonna lie you’ve kept me excited and back into metal. When I retired from music a decade ago or so I just couldn’t find a way to still listen to or hear about it. But back in 2020 I found your channel and with my love of mask and horror you drew me in. But over time watching your channel has just helped me be able to listen to and enjoy metal again. So thanks for what you do brother. If you ever need a horror movie expert I’m your guy
I get a stupid burst of joy when I see RU-vidrs I watch commenting on other channels I wouldn't have guessed they watch. Could have figured you were a metal head, though 😝🤘
I actually love the live version of clown's mask, it's so simple and menacing. It reminds me of a killer just having a mask to disguise his identity. I absolutely love Corey's mask, it's like an amalgamation of every era, but also it's entire own thing.
I give Corey's mask a 20/10. Dude the feels I got when I first saw it I literally jumped up and screamed I never expected that reaction 🤣 I was immediately in grade 6 and in love with this sic new band all over again
Not gonna lie, Corey Taylor bringing back the dreadlocks was a pleasant surprise, and I love loved how you used the analogy of "If it's not broken don't fix it" especially for Mick... That style of mask is just "him" you know, he's a big strong and menacing guy and the mask just adds to the menacing part, and I love it!!!
I would love a "Tell It Animated" Video with the whole evolution of the band, with your help obviously, thanks for the video man was just was i was looking for!
Corey's new mask is honestly unbelievable. The dreads from ST/Iowa, the mouth from Vol 3, the slightly bigger right eye like on the AHIG mask, it's perfect! Love to see some paintjobs on it sometime, like the Grey Chapter, that would be cool I think.
Im at work and climbed down off the roof and sat in the truck to watch this video. 🤣🤘 Like the shirt btw, my wife works at Bass Pro building boats. 🤣🤣🤣
Im actually surprised how happy i am with these new masks. Kinda fell out of love with them for a while, but im absolutely stoked for the future of Slipknot. And for the haters you mentioned, seems like the people from the Pommer drama/ "deeveedee" era never grew up. Glad you managed to rise above that, stay sic AJ
I don't believe this is definitive of eloy, I think the message with that shot in the forehead is like: "You died, now you're here" In Brazil there are several bows of brutal masks
Thanks for this AJ, especially the positive message at the end, back at you brother! I love the idea that all the masks (except Corey's) could start out white, like they're new from a factory and then gradually get tailored up and distressed as their tour cycle continues, becoming more personalized and menacing/disturbing with added paint and color and texture from use, just like you described. 😉 I'll be looking forward to new updates from you on how they look in the months to come. Keep doing what you're doing and thanks for all the love. 😈🤘
They say never meet your heroes, well AJ meets, greets, and works with his! Its been a journey watching you come into your own. You are a good ambassador for this hobby! Have a great weekend AJ
Eloy talked about his mask. White for honor of Joey, the lines are for tribal people in Brazil, and the shot is something like I'm dead, critiques and praises don't matter to a dead person
20:34 absolutely sharing this sentiment. It's so strange when you find out that people you have never even interacted with you in your life dislike you. Not even being indifferent to you, but actually and very actively dislike you. Post about you on Twitter, repost your stuff without giving credit, insult you behind locked accounts. The only difference is that in my case, they never say these things straight to my face. And I'm just sitting there like "the hell did I ever do to you? I'm just a curator of stuff about my and your favorite band" lol
I haven't watched THOM videos for so long Its strange yet so nice to see a very Different version of AJ. More positive and mature but still humorous. Still i miss the days when i had no job and no responsibilities and just binge watch almost all his videos.
eloy's and jeff's white masks reminds me alot of early jay's and v-mans first masks kind of a plain simple introduction masks that they can make their own in the next cycle
Personally for me, the mask that late Joey Jordison wore during their all hope is gone album is the creepiest so far. That kabuki mixed with horror Jesus Christ theme mask plus the torn thingy crown.. Now, imagine at night you see that particular mask floating around in the darkness..
It’s also kinda cool how the new guys have been given pretty standard and neutral masks, just like how jay and v man did at the start. Be cool to see them take them into their own new things
for years mick has been my favourite one of the band and he still is i love the fact that he has been running the same mask for pretty much over 20 years 🤘
I've been down since Iowa, I got the self-titled album in the fall of 2001, and was all in since. As with most fans, I prefer certain versions of their masks over others; but a picture of all of them outside somewhere that was just posted a couple days ago with Corey in the front gave me a vibe I don't think I've ever felt. I don't know if it's the way the outside light is on them, but I swear to god Corey's new mask with the long dreads actually gave me the creeps; but obviously I'm happy about it, lol! My god, it looks as if the very first mask he had when they made their debut on Ozzfest '99 went through decomposition, burned, etc.! Other photos of him and the band at shows going on right now are great to see; but that particular photo just really has an eerie and excellent vibe to it. To hell with the haters. I can't wait to see them this summer!
I swear man, regardless of what anyone says about slipknot, they are creative as hell and this new era of masks w the promo shots of the band, look absolutely terrifying. Most of the band looks like serial killers, Clown gives me chills now, BRUTAL!!
Honestly I'm gonna have to go with Corey and Clown's masks as my favorites out of this new era. Corey's mask suits him really well and looks gnarly af, and Clown's mask is pretty simple but *so creepy* and I love that so much. I'm really happy to see these two finally have some really good masks as the last few years their masks have felt kinda underwhelming. Their new masks truly make up for it imo.
These are some fun masks. Hearing that Sid's mask is gold makes it so much more incredible. With Jeff's mask, when they do Japan, I would love to see the cracks filled in like it was kintsugi, like gold style. I think like you said, there's so much potential with these masks! Looking forward to the next few months.
I saw something on r/Slipknot that Mick had a new mask made but it didn't fit so he couldn't use it for these dates. Maybe we will see something in the near future
Comfortability is the thing and while we all love the jumpsuits, I get why they distanced from it especially Corey over the years. They are definitely not comfortable and can get snug. Albeit I’d also like for them to stay but I also won’t mind if they get dropped. Long as the performances are great.
It'd make sense for Pfaff to wear that mask for 'Eyeless', but he seems to be wearing it for Devil in I and Heretic Anthem, where he has little involvement for the song outside of backup vocals. Kind of reminds me of Chris wearing his mask backwards for Killpop/Vermilion Looks like he busted out the horned variant for Heretic Anthem at Sick New World, which is incredible.
Came for the mask review, stayed for the positive affirmations at the end. I'm really happy for you that you're finding your zen, my man. All the best.
Jim's beard mask has been my favourite ever since the start. A couple years ago, a band hired me for a festival show, and two of their songs required hockey masks. I cut mine exactly the way Jim does, as a very obvious tribute.
Dude…..honestly AJ , i thought you may be gone for a couple weeks, but you got back home to Chillicothe, Ohio to post a video for all of us and all I can say is thank you
i am really digging the new masks. i love that they did a modern update of the OG members OG masks and the new members masks do really blend well with the rest of the band. i cant wait to see them this summer.
Talking about Eloy's mask it gave me an idea. What if he added some sort of watercooling system to his mask on the inside, for obvious reasons. But the water would be colored blood red and would also gush out of that hole when he plays?
I just had an epiphany. The whole point of nostalgia is that it's the memory of the past that puts value on a thing. When said thing attempts to reinvigorate itself to a modern time, "it never beats the original thing" regardless of its quality. with that said, i think it's dope that Corey's mask has the signature green dreads. headbanging with those are always the most fun to watch (thanks Korn) image-wise though, it's gonna be hard seeing slipknot without the infamous pinhead and longnose masks
New guy masks remind me of the scarecrow ones, from gray chapter, it seems new members that come in duos get matching masks that arent as personalized as they will become
Being Brazilian, I expected Eloy to choose a mask that portrayed our folklore, we have many mystical characters that in more evil versions would be perfect for the band, such as the cuca, boitata, headless mule, tutu and many others
According to Stacey Thomson, Mick had a leather devil style mask made for their shows for the 25th anniversary shows and the last 2 shows they did but he didn’t like it so he’s not gonna wear it.
