I have a G3 and I've upgraded the RAM to a single stick of 32GB DDR4. Works like a charm. I also have Windows 10 on the 2242 NVMe and Windows 11 on the 2280.
Mine came in the mail yesterday (ordered from Amazon). It's the base 8GB/256GB model, and I'm watching your video on it as we speak. So far I'm impressed by how well it works.
It's always a good thing when companies listen to their customer base. Most people who do retro gaming probably prefer to add their own SSDs for convenience, especially when SSDs are so cheap right now.
These are great little computers. I have successfully added a 1 TB 2242 SATA M.2 and am using it as a media server. The original boot disk is 2280 NVME M.2 mine came in the 256GB flavor. I have found you can download the Win 11 install direct from GMKTec to install on a larger drive. Apparently direct cloning of the Win 11 install does not work. Both slots are reported to accept up to 2TB drives. Even the standard 8GB ram have been plenty for a Plex Server running on Win 11. Pleasantly surprised at what this little machine can do.
The main M.2 is PCIe 3.0, but the secondary M.2 2242 BM port is only SATA right? No extra PCI slots on this PC. Have you been able to boot with the M2 2242 Sata hard disk? I'm considering using the PCIe 3.0 for a TPU and booting with a SATA disk in the secondary slot.
I had created a NAS with a Raspberry Pi4B, but got tired of issues with Raspberry OS, and other ARM issues. I bought this NUC to use debian12 amd64. I shrunk the win 11 partition and installed debian12. I can't get debian12 to turn on Bluetooth, but I added a keyboard under win 11. The BIOS has too many settings related to Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. But since win 11 worked, Bluetooth must be on in bios. Perhaps debian12 doesn’t have a driver for it. I tried lsusb and lspci, but couldn't find a bluetooth device listed.
Hi i'm interested in buying a NucBox G3 .Can i leave the M.2 2280 as is with Windows 11on it and get a M.2 2242 and install Linux Mint .I want to dual boot on the 2 separate ssd's , is that possible ? Loved your presentation ,subscribed to your channel.
Hi, just like to say good production, but you sounded like a QVC salesman lol, needed a bit more of what was in the box ,you said Quad-core and AMD duel core but what gen and what model ? and graphics I think you said UHD graphics but the 610 is worse than the 655? i thought I had missed a lot of stuff from a previous video hopefully that video explained the differences?
Greetings and welcome to the family! This unit has a 12th Gen Intel Alder Lake N100 (3.4GHz). The Intel UHD video card is running at 750Mhz which did give this one quite a boost over the A9 9400 Id been using (This was the dual core AMD). Heh, yeah thats just me :) Youd be amazed how many folks have met me and told me that I am EXACTLY the same in real life as on the videos :) I love what I do! Hope that helps Brother!
@@Complete_Technology_Solutions Hi, yes that makes sense now with those specs, was a good video, i was amazed to see you only have a few subscribers and videos posted , it looked and had the professionalism of someone with a few hundred thousand, i have subscribed and keep up the good work.
I bough mine 2 weeks ago, nice mini pc. However the fan works too loudly for a few secs, then stops, then works loudly again. I don't think its normal.
I wanted to install Openmediavault in this G3, however I receive these USB errors at boot gen 23 13:34:20 openmediavault kernel: ACPI Error: AE_NOT_FOUND, During name lookup/catalog (20220331/psobject-220) gen 23 13:34:20 openmediavault kernel: ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PC00.TXHC.RHUB.SS02], AE_NOT_FOUND (20220331/dswload2-162) gen 23 13:34:20 openmediavault kernel: ACPI Error: AE_NOT_FOUND, During name lookup/catalog (20220331/psobject-220) gen 23 13:45:34 openmediavault kernel: ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PC00.TXHC.RHUB.SS01], AE_NOT_FOUND (20220331/dswload2-162) gen 23 13:45:34 openmediavault kernel: ACPI Error: AE_NOT_FOUND, During name lookup/catalog (20220331/psobject-220) gen 23 13:45:34 openmediavault kernel: ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PC00.TXHC.RHUB.SS02], AE_NOT_FOUND (20220331/dswload2-162) gen 23 13:45:34 openmediavault kernel: ACPI Error: AE_NOT_FOUND, During name lookup/catalog (20220331/psobject-220) gen 23 13:53:26 openmediavault kernel: ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PC00.TXHC.RHUB.SS01], AE_NOT_FOUND (20220331/dswload2-162) gen 23 13:53:26 openmediavault kernel: ACPI Error: AE_NOT_FOUND, During name lookup/catalog (20220331/psobject-220) gen 23 13:53:26 openmediavault kernel: ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PC00.TXHC.RHUB.SS02], AE_NOT_FOUND (20220331/dswload2-162) gen 23 13:53:26 openmediavault kernel: ACPI Error: AE_NOT_FOUND, During name lookup/catalog (20220331/psobject-220) G3 support replied me that they only support Windows 11 but it seems a Bios issue. Anyone is having these USB issues with G3 ? Thanks
Which video port were you using? I noticed that one of them is the primary (Closest to the edge) and that it was the only one that would work on initial boot.
First, I am very happy with this product, but I have three issues: 1. There is no linux driver support for your Realtek bluetooth chip. 2. Linux Mint 21.2 doesn't recognize my Samsung 4K monitor, and restricts it to 800x600 resolution. debian12 recognizes the monitor and allows 1920x1080 (or higher) resolution. 3. I tried using the second hdmi port, but got no video output. Neither hdmi port is marked as primary.
Greetings! I dont believe debian12 has drivers available.. yet. Its interesting, in after filming testing I also noticed that my new 4K TV was forcing Batocera to 4K which, of course, pulls everything to a halt on the intro but seems to clear up when the system is loaded (Even with game mode disabled). As far as the HDMI ports, I really need to test this with windows just to see what going on with those 2 ports. Have a great week! Jon
@@Complete_Technology_Solutions Thanks! It works.=. Unfortunately Prime Video won't output 4K on PC because Amazon purposely disabled it, but 4K Netflix works fine.
Thanks Brother! The game systems and computers around the edge have been mine growing up for the 70's. The motherboards on the wall are from different clients over the last 35 years in IT. That really represents me and who I am :)
I purchased the 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD version, but both components turned out to be from some off-brand Chinese manufacturer. When I left a review on the official product page, it wasn't approved, yet reviews with photos showing LEXAR-branded components were accepted. This feels shady. Returning the units would be too much of a hassle. Lesson learned: stick with reputable brands that have a reputation to protect, not these fly-by-night whitebox resellers. I am posting this on everything i can find related to GMKtec NucBox G3.
