Lettering  

You can! Lettering is the theme for #junkjournaljuly2024 hosted by ​⁠‪@megjournals‬ in collaboration with many amazing artists. Today I got inspired by the artist of the day ​⁠‪@Janethecrazy‬ with cutting out some words from some magazines. I ended up doing a whole page of lettering and this piece includes a mishmash of things including: some old tissue paper I found in my drawer, some washi tape, a hilarious passage about Canadians being “backward” and “buoyant” because we have winter??? 😂 You can get a real eye full of things looking at vintage books. I also used a piece of a page from a lovely page from an old Chinese (I think) dictionary that somehow ended up in my stash. Now I’m going to get my hands on more writing in other languages. Today’s project is a good reminder that junk journaling is all about making something from nothing, and that art is for everybody, everyday. Those are my words to live by.
