I thought about being a gynecologist when I was in high school but worried that like working in a pizza joint, I might end up getting sick of seeing it all day and then not be very keen to have a snack off hours.

What they forgot to add is the speculum goes in, then notches are turned to widen the tongs. This opens you right up to unnatural levels. For the scraping.

@@HerbMandoom the test you're thinking about is not as helpful as you're hoping it is. it's a blood test for Prostate Specific Antigen, which can be elevated in men with prostate cancer but can be equally elevated for other conditions and events that affect the prostate (recent ejaculation, recent anal, vigorous exercise, urinary tract infection, STI, certain medications, etc.). So if you test high for this antigen, you still have to get the finger and some imaging to see if there are any masses/tumors. Men can also have prostate cancer and not test high enough for the antigen to be a concerning result. So the blood test can raise an alarm, but a high antigen result is less of a definitive screening test and more like a check engine light. Sometimes it alerts you to trouble, sometimes it doesn't. When it comes on, it isn't specific enough and you still have to do some exploring to find the precise problem. To sum it up: the blood test is not a reliable alternative to the finger, so you still have to get the finger to screen for prostate cancer.

Rectal examination is less accurate than the PSA blood test, missing more cancer and causing more false alarm. Until recently, the combination of PSA and rectal examination was recommended. The most accurate test for detecting prostate cancer is a prostate biopsy. This biopsy involves taking a tissue sample from the prostate and examining it under a microscope, which can help your doctor determine whether there is an uncontrolled growth of cells in the prostate gland

The only problem with the show is it's stacked up to the rafters with so much talent that you just can't feature everyone all the time. That's a great problem to have for sure. But yeah, sorry we missed out on the folks you got to see, but glad we saw the ones we did. The road show would be ridiculous if everyone was on stage at the same time. It would have to be four hours long to display all those talented comedians in the same place at the same time.

I loudly exclaimed, "WAIT NO WHAT THE FUCK! I HATE BEING A WOMAN!" When the doc started to scrape my first pap. She nearly died of laughter and thanked me for saying what every woman is probably thinking.

It's like being raped by a robot while feeling so exposed. The best progress we've made in modern medicine is not making it a yearly thing anymore, unless you have a family history.

and she only focused on the pap smear 😂 the pap is the most uncomfortable part by far, but not the only uncomfortable part of the exam. ladies get the finger up the bum, too, to check for abnormal growths on the outer anterior wall of their mitts that may not be noticeable from inside the mitt. it really isn't bad. just feels like a little bit of pressure compared the just having had a metal speculum prying your cooch open.

The first time I went in for a pap, I had zero warning to what was going to happen. The OB told me I'd feel a slight pinch, but when she touched my cervix and the spasms started, I, a young naive woman, just exclaimed "WHAT IN THE FUCK!?" The doctor was laughing so hard and said, "Honestly that's a perfectly valid response for your first pap smear."

I've had easy ones and horrible ones. After the horrible ones I switched OBs. Felt like I was getting violated by a pair of pliers, and bled after 😢. Never had that when the doc is good at it, only with one especially horrible one.

My guess is that she is another local. Sudbury seems to have some fine ladies for such a small place. Julia and Jay Bertin ( Mia Sophia and Tyson) are from there, started as crowd people and got written in as regulars.

I think her name is Ellyn Jade? I think she was also in a Vikings episode to.. I might be wrong though
