Letterpress printing some large wood type for 916 Day in Sacramento (September 16) 

It doesn’t get more Sacramento related than this! The Sacramento City Council has declared September 16th as 916 Day! The number is important to those in the Sacramento, California area because 916 is our area code.
For today, Jared letterpress printed “916” using our largest wood type in our print shop exhibit (30 line pica). This wood type was made in the 1890s by the Hamilton Wood Type Company in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. The printing press that was used to print is our Washington hand press that was made in 1852 by the Charles Foster & Brother Company in Cincinnati, Ohio.
