I'm looking for an episode of 12 days of Carson ..where one of the items Johnny shows is a 14k Gold Mousetrap with a diamond wedge of cheese as bait....Johnny makes a joke saying .. Wouldn't it be weird to wake up Christmas morning with Zsha Zsha Gabor's head stuck in the trap.! I made that gold mousetrap about 1978-80 I've been searching for years to find that episode. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The 3rd letter written by "Christina" must've been written by someone who changed her name to Daria Morgendorffer.

And you can bet that he made sure some of those letters came true. Class act and all after him, including Jay who I think is great...were pretenders to the throne.

I like the bit starting at 6:32 where Johnny's reading the requests from kids in needs. You could hear the emotion in his voice. I half-way expected him to volunteer to get the iron to replace the one the kid broke, especially since the kid said not to get anything for himself, just for his mom.

I agree. The serious letters always get to me. That is when you see the real Carson.

People have said in interviews that Johnny did that kind of thing for people all the time. But he kept it private and never mentioned it on tv

Love this video. Johnny makes you chuckle, then he tugs at your heart for the kids who are needy. Love this guy. We should all channel our Johnny Carson. about.usps.com/corporate-social-responsibility/letters-to-santa.htm#p=1

This 'bit' was just awesome..and so simple...It was funny and sad at the same time..and it was all about how Johnny read the letters...Years later I realized the obvious..He could have left out the sad letters and had just as funny a bit.I always thought he really felt bad about kids who had nothing at Christmas...

Some of these kids then may have kids of their own at that age now.

A touching piece from Carson. Simplicity in a timely realm. Thanks for including the now retro Sears and Dodge commercials as well.

This was truly philanthropic of Johnny. I don't remember Jay Leno ever doing this during any December of his tenure. And I don't think Jimmy Fallon does, either!

Johnny Carson could have taken care of every Christmas request letter he received and it would not have cost him anything.

Miss those days where you can drop letters in the post office and say your wishes to santa.... time flies so fast. Today, we don't have that anymore since the birth of the cellular phone, I miss being kids again 😢😢😢

I really enjoyed Johnny’s interview style. He actually listened to his guests and gave them a chance to be themselves. Just think about how many careers he helped start and improved. Especially with comics.

They sent them back to the post office? Seems like if they were gonna use the letters for a bit they could've sent the kids some presents

Carson was known as a lousy tipper, so of course he wasn't about to send those needy kids anything.

i saw a follow up on the letter about the iron. the reason they had no money was because the kid broke the iron which meant his mom couldn't work. she was the local meth dealer in their housing complex and depended on the iron to make her meth.
