Shame. It’s a feeling so universal that it goes back to our first parents, Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. The enemy actually uses shame to make us feel like we’re the only person dealing with a certain problem to keep us disconnected and hidden from our communities and from God.
Today, I’m sitting down with Carrie Schuchts Daunt to talk about all types of shame, what it does to us, and the antidote to it. Carrie is an author and presenter for the John Paul II Healing Center’s Undone and Unveiled retreats, where she leads women in healing from past wounds and shame. NEEDED! NEEDED! NEEDED this! This was a beautiful discussion about a topic that so many of us struggle with. i have repeatedly gone to confession with the same sin- not repeated sin- but the same one because i feel i am not worthily of forgiveness and can't forgive myself. I feel my confession isn't good enough- that I am never good enough. knowing, that in and of itself, I am sinful because of my lack of trust in God's promise of forgiveness. I know in my head that the devil is bombarding me with lies about this weakness in my past where I fell to a place I couldn't have imagined going. i also know that my God is bigger than anything he can throw at me and God has shown me his amazing love and protection over and over and over. I don't want to carry the Shame of past regrets. I want to trust fully in Christ's redemption - it isn't Him who fails me, it's me who fails Him. Forgive me Lord for I am a sinner! Sacred Heart of Jesus, I TRUST IN YOU~

Wonderful talk. I’m glad Chris included the issues of Eating too much, or not keeping your house clean, etc. you can also feel shame because you have to Rent rather than be a home-owner.

Would like to hear more. I recognize the results of shame. How do I pinpoint the origin (sl of that shame to renounce it? How do I help others recognize or be cognizant of their shame and find healing?
