For watermelons, you need to look for a large yellow/white spot on one side of it. I know most people try to avoid the ones with the large yellow spots cause they think a more pretty, solid green colored watermelon is better but that large yellow spot is a good sign. That spot is where the watermelon laid on the ground ripening in the sun. The longer the watermelon laid there being allowed to ripen on the vine, the more that yellow spot appears and watermelons are sweeter when they are allowed to ripen ON THE VINE, not be picked too soon and left to ripen off the vine. So if you want a sweet juicy watermelon, look for that large yellow circle area on one side and then look for the little webbing type of lines across it. The sweetest watermelons have imperfections and don’t look like the perfect green melons.
I'm not a kid but I love them, too 🙂 I have a big family, and we are Italian - so food is love 🙂 I spend *a lot* of time in the kitchen, especially when making pasta and Sunday gravy .. yet every time I watch her videos, they make me want to get up and start cooking .. no matter what time of the day or night .. and then I start jotting down how I will adjust the recipe ingredients to accommodate my big family 😋
This is such a sweet idea for the kids! Mine is only 11 months, but when he gets older I will definitely incorporate “kid choice day” into our routine 😄
The uglier the better when it comes to watermelons if you're looking for scars and a yellow spot. The yellow spot is where it laid on its side towards the ground and gravity pulls the sugar to the bottom turning the peel from green to yellow. So the bigger the yellow spot means the more sugar and the longer it sat means it's more ripe. A pretty all green watermelon isn't going to have much sweetness because it didn't have a chance to sit on the ground long enough to ripen.
Chicken cutlets are a staple in every Italian household. I make them at least twice a month .. and I just made about 4 pounds the other night. We like to eat them hot, cold, for dinner or in a sandwich, you can slice them and add some to a salad, or make Chicken Parm and serve them with a side of pasta🍝 I also freeze some to keep them on hand.
Ok, I know this has nothing to do with your video, btw your food always looks fantastic, but I absolutely love your hair. I am so jealous. Thanks for all you share.
Is there any specific reason for not using MSG? Asking because have heard many people saying don't use it, it isn't good for the health. Personally our family likes it.
As far as I know there is no scientific reason msg is bad. People used to think msg caused sickness and headaches etc bc they felt that way after eating a lot of Chinese take out but eating a lot of take out can cause someone to feel sick in general even if they don't use msg. There is no experiment that proves msg can cause harm but I am sure just like excessive salt usage can hurt someone's health, excessive msg usage can too. Using anything excessive is hurtful. The reason why people especially seem so demonise msg is mostly because of racist sentiments towards Asians sadly.
MSG is safe and is naturally occurring compound in a lot of the foods we already eat and we use it quite often. I feel like people who still believe in the myth of MSG stemming from the “Chinese restaurant syndrome”” in the 60’s should do their own research ❤️
Hey I just wanted to say it’s totally okay to use vodka in the kids’ dishes! The alcohol cooks out!! Just like how wine is used a lot in cooking. Totally fine for children!! ☺️
Just curious why don't you add vodka to your penne alla vodka when cooking for your kids? I thought that most of the alcohol cooks off in the process so there's minimal amounts left when you eat it.
I don't know how you do it.. I can't get any of my kids to eat any of the delicious food you make... It's always the same..nuggets, eggs, cearl, pancakes... Teach me!!
I saw a guy on TikTok saying there are 3 things to look for when picking a good watermelon. 1- wide spacing between the stripes (at least 2 fingers can fit lengthwise inside a stripe) 2- big yellow spot on the bottom (where it has been ripening in the sun on the vine) 3- when you knock on it, listen for a deep and hollow sound (higher pitched = not ripe) I hope this helps!
Wow you are a super woman! Just wondering, is there any day where you dont feel like cooking anything? no breakfast, no lunch, no snack or no dinner. Then what do you expect your family to eat the ehole day?
Estás hasta la pata y son poco más de las 10 de la mañana. Te van a quitar el perro, pá’ llevárselo a los nenes que lo extrañan. Mañana lo van a buscar los Generales.
Adding vegetables isn't what they asked for. One day without vegetables won't kill them. Also, the vodka cooks out of the pasta. Leaving it out won't taste the same.
