Oui le mot est juste et bien approprié. C'est bel et bien insupportable de perdre ce Gaspard exceptionnellement talentueux et d une élégance à tous niveaux. Penser à lui est douloureux car c est insupportable C est ce qui s est traduit il me semble lors de l hommage de Xavier Dolan. On le comprend tellement. C est dur. Bonsoir, Gaspard s’était fait tirer le portrait en 2018 par Renaud Monfourny, photographe de l’agence Leextra et cofondateur des Inrocks à l’occasion de la sortie du film underground “9 Doigts” du réalisateur F.J. Ossang. On le voit avec son éternelle allure élancée, gilet a grosse maille avec une clope au bec fraîchement allumée, nonchalamment calée entre ses lèvres, le visage candide et le regard grave, frontale, enfin presque. Car on remarque qu’il fixe juste un point à côté de l’objectif, il est présent mais il nous échappe, subtilement. On ressent une proximité et une distance touchante. Le photographe raconte que Gaspard Ulliel s’était spontanément allumé une cigarette et c’est un geste qui a beaucoup plu à ce photographe qui aimé laissé une certaine liberté à ses modèles et qui apprécie particulièrement les images où les modèles fument des cigarettes, savent même fumer des cigarettes, ce qui n’est pas ce qu’on aurait appelé certaines icônes du cinéma. On pense bien sûr à Bebel donc Jean-Paul Belmondo mais surtout à James Dean qui vient immédiatement à l’esprit. Déjà par rapport à leur destin tragique, mort injustement si jeune mais aussi par leur indéniable belle gueule si souvent accompagnée d’une cigarette qui leur confère un air un peu rebelle. La sidération est générale. Beaucoup de photographes ont croisé son chemin, beaucoup ont fait par de l’authenticité avec laquelle il se prêtait au jeu du portrait.
