@@taffia They didn't want him to go in the first place. Kept rumours of no confidence going, but didn't really worry until the UK population including the media, made too much noise. His farewell speech showed no humility or acceptance of wrongdoing - remind you of the US grifter in chief? Lizzie Truss winked at him on the way out and from the beginning it was obvious that she was going to be PM . They played a game of charades, pretending to be voting, but it was always going to be her. I'm pretty sure that she was a placeholder for him, an added bonus being that in her short time she could hopefully wangle some more of their deeply unpleasant ideas into law. I reckon they underestimated her complete lack of intelligence mind you, though her overweening arrogance likely made her think she really was popular.. Putting her there prevented the pitchforks appearing for Johnson and enough time has passed (in their eyes) to bring the b'stard back. He even tipped us that he was only leaving temporarily with his Terminator reference.

Well that and tanked the economy overnight by giving tax cuts to the rich while paying for it by borrowing and freaking out the markets that dropped the value of the pound despite everyone telling her it would happen.

Putting my tinfoil hat on here but I think a deal probably went along and some more powerful individuals or groups offered her 115k a year to 'resign'. Politics do be a bloodbath.

@@jordanfires9777 Incorrect. We vote for our local MPs, not for a party - that's proportional representation you're thinking of, and it would be a better system. However, we also vote on the basis of the party leaders at the time of the election. No-one voted Tory because they thought doing so would make Liz 'pork markets' Truss the Prime Minister.

@@sleepnomore6065 Liz Truss was appointed by Conservative Party members, from a shortlist of two options decided by Conservative MPs. Her successor will probably be too, unless Conservative MPs decide not to give the members a choice. Either way, the general public are not involved.

@@SerPodrick I live in the UK, we call GB the mainland, as opposed to the Isle of Mann, The Channel Islands, Hebrides, Orkneys, Scilly Isles, Northern Ireland. My point is still that the show used the wrong map and left out Northern Ireland despite talking about the whole of the UK.
