One of the jazziest horns with an ensemble you'll ever come close to is Lettuce ❤which is an arsenal of horns drummer dietch BB eating out killing us with funk rhythms and Jesus thumps his bass Nigel Hall and Benny bloom it's a big ass party and you there with lights shinnig in your face, beatz thumping in you chest, people dancing tearing it upp in the floor Although there's a crowd noise chants and banter about the show keeps on goin And it don't Stop❤ 😎😍💥😂 Yours truly Kevlar8)
TIGHT, TIGHT, TIGHT!!!! What a great band. Eric Bloom, as a fellow trumpet player, my hat is off. I don't care what horn or mouthpiece you play, what method you subscribe to, or any of the rest of the Internet crap that passes for education, all I know is you have figured it out for your groove. Major props. This is what the Average White Band might have been, had they ascended. I love it when I see a seasoned veteran, such as Adam Smirnoff, holding his own with the young cats. You may have taught them everything they know, but we both know you haven't taught them everything YOU know.
actually these are all Adam Smirnoff's peers, sans Bloom. They all went to Berklee together in mid90s and have been playing together for the better part of 20 years
I love Lettuce just as much as the next guy, but “what the Average White Band might have been, had they ascended?” AWB is a legendary Funk band. Legendary. Perhaps you phrased that different than what you meant...
This is def in top 5 lettuce shows I’ve seen so far. Check out 10/31/17 if you like this show. That’s on par if not better. Diff mix as Nigel is on keys. Also check out Capitol Theater 03/23/18.
What a journey. I think this is the best set I've heard so far. Puts me in a very good mood! Thanks for the upload! ps. Madison Square is a total banger. Like some funky boss battle theme :D
I actually just found u guys by accident when I was looking for the band String Cheese & your band popped up to so I thought id listen to see what y'all were like......glad I did cuz I couldn't stop listening.....y'all are ****FUNKY**** love it!!!!
Hey Barry! We've chatted at shows. I'm a taper, live down in Hickory. I'll be up the hill for Moe. Henry Rollins,Mike Gordon and Karl Denson so hopefully we'll bump heads and talk shop.
Neither, it's the hi hat. Here's me playing it. It's not quite swung, not quite straight. soundcloud.com/johnny-ivory/trillogy-jam Takes a little practice to get to sound good. Also, check out Prayer by D'Angelo and Nakamarra by Hiatus Kaiyote (listen to the whole thing)
anyone know what type of earplugs the band members are wearing? I have tinnitis and hearing damage ansd going to concerts is becoming more and more difficult due to the overwhelming noise.
I have been playing the keys for 42 years and have soloed 99% of the time way back in the 1970's and 1980's My question is can a person tour with a band like this and make a decent living or are you starving from gig to gig. I would love to be in a group like this but I wonder about the ability to make a living doing so. Any feedback would be appreciated. Sounds Great!
+Dan Edmiston You can make a living yeah. My buddies do it but its a lot of work and they live pretty minimally. These types of bands can often find many gigs since it doubles as both performance and great for dancing.
these guys have been at it for over 20 years and are the best band in Universe. yes they make a good living now, but its HARD earned. that said, if you feel it, go for it man. who knows, you could form the next Lettuce
i just checked out their merch and theres a shirt that says jesus is my homeboy and i want to buy it bc im a christain but i now know that jesus is the bassist. would i be weird if i bought just bc i actually love jesus christ?
