I don’t know why more people don’t use CDS system for hunting.. range , dial , shoot .. it’s that simple and is forgiving.. you don’t need a ballistic solver and app to use .. love my VX6 HD 4-24 , best glass I’ve ever looked through 👍😊🇺🇸
What, no comments? Hands down the best information on focal planes. While I have the only comment to read, I got a question. For say 1200 yard range shots, will a VX3i be as constant as say a VX5, a Mark 5? I am having tracking issues with my old VX3LR with an elevation turret Leupold put on for me. If I upgrade, tracking will be my biggest concern.
That center cross hair doesn't change its the sub tensions that become obtuse so if your making your turret adjustments for the shot the center crosshair isnt affected by magnification
Learning to estimate range using your radicals is very important in the military realm because if we ever find ourselves fighting a first world nation they will have laser detecting warning system so the last thing you wanna do is shine a bunch of lasers on the battlefield every which way potentially giving away your position.
I know this sounds crazy, but I'd really like to see that Varmint Hunter illuminated reticle or something like it on a 1-8x33, 34, 35...40 objective with a one inch tube for feral hogs. I can see that being very helpful for the running piggies after that first shot. And put it in a VX Freedom or VX 3i line of scopes.
Was it Mr. Burris working for Leupold, or Redfield back in the early 60's or late 50's when he figured out how to do sfp, and thus got rid of the hated first ffp, I find it interesting that some today think ffp is something new, when in fact it used to be all we had , till they got rid of it, as it sucked for hunters.
I just looked at a VX6 , beautiful scope and I want one but 1 thing is stopping me . When you look inside of the scope does each graduation mark equal 100 yards ??? No one talks about that during their review of these Scopes . Please cover that in your Review . Thank you .
Busy reticles for my 150 yards shooting bothers the hell out of me. It interferes with my concentration. Reticle needs to be right for the application. A hunter in North east shoots at. 100-150 yard in woodland; what he/she needs wind adjustment for? Burris has the most impractical reticles. Please tell us how HD scopes are better and worth the million dollars that you want for them. THANKS.
Hi nice video. I own a leupold 3-9x40 vxr patrol scope with tmr reticle(in 2nd fp)My question is. I use the scope at full power (9) to get an accurate use of the mil reticle. For range finding and hold over. If I cut the magnification setting to half (4.5) power, do I divide the mils hold over value by half? For example at 9 power my hold over value is 4mils. If I set the scope to 4.5 power do I then shoot at the target at 2mils to get the same aim point as if at 9 power with a 4 mils hold over. If that is correct if the scope is set to 3 power. 4mils would become 1.333mils at 3 power. Basically one third the amount of 4mils? Thank you for your time to answer. All my scope I own are leupold😋 Cheers Brent
56mm objective lens 2-4 on the low 15-22 on the high holds I can use in the reticle and capped turrets illumination first focal plane that’s the scope I’m looking for?🤯🔫✊🏿
That's what the math tells me too, but I have heard the same argument for binoculars of lower power. Physically the higher power isn't exaggerating movements it just expands the image so you can see the movement. Maybe the people with problems on higher power are simply getting distracted by it. Like the brain is tricking the viewer into thinking the image is moving and shaking when it is actually the scope(image frame and reticle) that is shaking and then the attempt to compensate has some negative feedback because of that subconscious illusion? As an alternate example I have an old surveyors scope(theodolite) with fixed 27x and a 30mm objective and I can dial it right in to about 1/10moa, but it is on a good tripod and has fine adjustment knobs, certainly not like holding a rifle. (It will direct read to 20seconds with mechanical vernier, several times finer with some operator trickery.)
excellent presentation. everything thoroughly explained. except im not sure i buy the reason for the cost difference. original setup might take a bit more time/precision but decades of double costs? ... comes down to supply and demand, what we are willing to pay
You should never spend more for a non leupold scope its a waste of money and you should never spend less for a non leupold cheaper scope it will be a huge mistake 👍👍
Over time Leupold has been one of the best scopes, Weaver became junk in the 60's Redfield was always junk . Redfield and Weaver both went broke and screwed everyone out of their warranties.
Your holds are only good at max magnification seems to be not great when you don’t need max magnification so FFP is just so much better and Leupold needs to do more FFP!🤯🔫
So little vision on the cutaway! What a waste of a great instruction device. You might see and understand it, but give your audience a dedicated, reasonably timed close up, explaining what is going on. Realistically, what you have is an awesome visual aid wasted!
I called Leupold in 1995 and asked if they had any FFP Scopes long before the band wagon started and they acted as if I was crazy for just asking that and I haven't purchased a Leupold product since now they have had a wakeup just 20years too late.
I believe it was Leupold that cured the problem of ffp scopes so they probably could not believe anyone would actually want one, as they were crap canned about 60 years ago
Good info but your audio fricken sucks. The brains has low audio, the hat has over powering audio. Had to keep adjusting volume. Makes me want to go vortex already.
