Scot, I am an old as well as an old timey angler. I know the ups and downs of fishing. I don't watch your videos just to watch you catch fish. I watch them to see how you navigate these tournaments. The good, bad and the ugly. This is what I want to see. The thought process that goes into this level of competition from a true legend in the sport. Oh yeah, I watched Hillary's video where she took "Grandpa" out on Okeechobee. What a treat that was.

You summed up that tourney in one word early on- BRUTAL..😂😅 It appeared that most anglers had a hard time finding and catching there. On a side note, im with you on the hot sauce, what a waste of good beans..😅 Love what ya'll are doing ❤ Good luck in the future tourneys!

Hey Scott, met you at the classic this year. Keep plugging away and you’ll get that blue trophy and classic trophy. I know Oklahoma ain’t Florida, but it gets pretty damn hot and steamy here in the summer. I had this issue you’re having with the baits. I always used the more economical storage boxes.I went to using those nice Plano storage boxes that have the moisture absorber in them and stopped putting so many in one box and haven’t had the problem since. Don’t know exactly what causes it to happen, especially with the plastic hard baits, but what I did has elevated the problem so far. I know you’re sponsored by other companies but may be worth the try 🤷🏻. Keep up putting in the work and go get a win, bunches of people are pulling for ya!

It’s the heat 100%. Mine do it as well. You have to keep the Megabass jerks in a separate box and take them indoors when you’re not on the water. And when you are on the water you’ll want to keep them on the coolest part of the boat, and in a cooler if possible on those super hot days.

I had a box of lipless baits swell. I put them in non waterproof boxes so the heat didn’t stay in the box along with removing them from the boat when not using the boat for a while

I’ve always called them stick fish. When I was a kid and I’d throw in a tree my dad would say I was squirrel 🐿 fishing. I done a lot of squirrel fishing in my day.

I call a stick and stumps or just a tree in particular when I hang into one, I say I got a "KNOTTY BASS"!!!!! LOL!!!. Also as a child growing up through the years, I m 52 now. We had toys that were made from similar types of plastic like your swelled up crank baits and jerk baits that we could put in the freezer after they get disconfigured and they would draw back up to original shape. You might could try that if you haven't already. If you don't mind say something about that in an upcoming episode to let me know if it worked or didn't. Thanks Bro. Martin!!!!!

I always bring my hard bait boxes in my garage so they're at least in the shade during the summer. Once I have my office built out I'm just going to bring them inside.

I've found that Florida heat swells lures like that and melts some plastics. I've lost so many Rattling' Neds just carrying them in my backpack for the day, but in Plano Tackle Trays, haven't experienced it in the original baggies! The ONLY solution is to place hard baits that swell in moneybags and literally suck out any air so there's no moisture whatsoever in there. Almost all tackle trays let moisture in and that's what we don't want or need on our stuff. The new Kastking boxes seem to hold a really solid seal but I'm not sure the air it holds inside won't won't hold moisture that can ruin lures just the same, but they include a moisture absorption pack. Maybe that will be the solution.

I live right beside Smith lake dam, i really think you should do good there, some if you old fighting spots still hold those 2 to 3lbers. Its been fun the first 2hrs of the morning on topwater watching the spots on the bank follow a buzzbait while its in mid flight, then crush it as it hits the water😊

That story about the boat accident!! A similar thing happened right there in clewiston back in the early 80s in a early flight take off . In the rim ditch when they were dredging back then . I guess there was a cable coming off the corner of that barge that had a flashing yellow light on it that was not working either.. . But the barge had moved just a little and caused the cable to go slack and it was just under the water and couldn't be seen. I believe it was a Redman draw tournament out of Rolands. Well these boys were headed south at they said close to 90 mph and caught that cable. Well you can only imagine! I think it was a driver console boat only and it just launched the passenger 200 feet down river and he survived with minor injuries. But the driver didn't do so well. When the boat inertia was stopped so fast the driver slammed up under the console and ripped the whole side of that boat cap completely off the boat. All the way to the bow. He became a human can opener. Wasn't much left of him. Fiberglass chewed him up into chum.. It broke the steering cable. So you know how tough those are. Cut it in half . That really made me respect the speed in the lake from that day on.

Hey Scott my initial thought is that being in Florida you live in some very high temps but also some very high humidity. Might be worth it to invest in a small dehumidifier for bait boxes. Might be worth some investigating! Best wishes!

The heat reacts with the glue that holds the pieces of the blank together causing them to swell. It they crack without swelling its the clear coat reacting to to much heat. You can litterally make some blanks swell out when drying the paint with a heat gun. Youre probably reaching well over 100° inside your storage at times. Ive had it happen in Alabama on really hot summer days while fishing and the box be out on the floor of my jon boat lol sucks too.

Something with heat on the jerk baits scott the type of plastic they using ... saturday it was so hot i have metal lacthes on my compartement lids dude they would burn my hand by 11 am my guess is heat doing it from florida and alabama in the summer time hotter 400 hells lol.... keep rolling man 👊

I never leave my jerks or cranks in the boat. Try this. Keep all your new jerks and cranks out of the boat when not using them during the day and night. See what happens. Its the heat!

I think your problem with the jerk baits is the heat. I bring all my gear inside every trip. I don’t leave anything in the truck or the boat, because I’ve had jig tails melt, soft plastics melt, hard baits get messed up, even my braided line lose it’s strength. All from the heat down here in Florida

Keep the lures in water. Small water tight container. It will slow the heat transition and help keep pressure on the exterior of the bait. Your welcome. Send me a hat for saving yah so much money 😂

The air inside the lure expands in the heat and so the thin-walled lure either swells or cracks.

I carried 3 vision 110s to Florida and fished them they swelled also, but none of the 1s I didn't have. I live in Alabama so I don't think it's the heat, maybe brackish water? Idk

All my catch 2000's and mirrodine's swell up while leaving them in the boat in the Texas summer heat. But nothing else swells up so it must be the material that's being used or how its made. Obviously, its from the heat but the question is why some hard baits but not all baits do this.

Use Some clear heat paint on the lures problem solved. heat/humidity and poor production processes cause this issue.

You ever notice where there is major power lines. The life diminishes, wether it's plant life, animal life. The radiation from the electrical surges could have an effect on the lake? You just never know.
