Boon Gould, former guitarist and one of the founding members of Level 42 has died.
A statement from lead singer Mark King said Boon Gould, 64, was found dead at his home in Dorset on Tuesday 30 April.
He was the guitarist and saxophone player for the group between 1980 and 1987 and reunited for a one-off performance in Bristol in 2012.
The band formed on the Isle of Wight and had a string of hits including ‘Love Games, ‘Lessons in Love’, ‘Star Child’ and ‘It’s Over’.
The statement on the Level 42 website said: "It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to tell you of the passing of our dear friend and brother Boon Gould.
His brother Phil, also a band member tweeted: "My heart is beyond broken. RIP Roland Charles 'Boon' Gould, my brother, 1955-2019."
The band's bassist and singer Mark King also tweeted his condolences:
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to tell you of the passing of our dear friend and brother Boon Gould.
Dorset Police confirmed that he was found dead at his home on Tuesday morning.
You are at peace now Boon, no more pain mate.
Thank you for everything.
Mark x"

When I was a kid my dad would groove to this song after he got home from work. My mom would come in shouting at him to lower it. He'd grin at my brother and me and just turn it up. I'm sure he's still rocking up in heaven.

Keyboard wizard shown here Mike Lindup has music in his genes . His mother was a black singer and pianist from Belize(small country just underneath the southern tip of Mexico) , His father was white, the leader of a mid 20th century "big band", music arranger and composer in England . She came to the UK to further her education and joined the women's army . One story has it that Mike's mom and dad were entertaining British soldiers at a show, they met , fell in love, married and begot Mike and one or two other siblings. Lindup is still playing and recording with bassist singer Mark King of Level 42 . After the Gould brothers left there have been many different lineups on guitar, drums, sax etc. The original lineup with Lindup, King, Gould brothers on drums and guitar started around the late 1970s . They were all born and raised on England's Isle of Wight

lovely story how Mike Lindup's parents met . His mother was of African descent, born & raised in a small UK country Belize (its just below mexico on the caribbean) . She was a singer and piano player . She came to England near the end of ww2 to study and also joined the women's section of the British Army . She played and sang for injured Allied soldiers in London . Mike's father, a very white englishman, did to . He was a big band leader, composer and music arranger. It was sort of love at first sight thing . They married and had mike and 2 other children . You could say Mike has music in his genes and was also nurtured by his musician parents
