Great question, unfortunately the v1 switch has a different motherboard than the v2 switch. So the batteries are non swappable. It would be super cool if we could give longer battery life to the OG switch

Not hating on your video, just wondering if this would matter for docked play. Awesome to see hades as well!

TLDR; battery health shouldn't be affected by and/or doesn't affect docked play. Although it isn't the right generation of switch, Wulff Den made a video "This OLED Nintendo Switch has been on for 1 year and 50 days straight." and his switch that was docked for however long its been since the OLED came out hadn't really been affected by overcharging or anything. I think that the switch also (when docked) takes most of its power directly from the wall, and uses the "excess" to charge the battery if it needs to be charged.

Totally understand, I take no offense at all. With the gen 1 Switch I found it wasnt keeping a charge as long, which indicated battery replacement

could changing the battery reset and save date on the motherboard?

I don't think so I think nowadays the time and date is held on a chip. But if you have access to the system menu on the switch still what you should be able to reset the time and date that way.

I'm sorry. I meant to say do you think it could erase the save data? I.e. lose all my save files on all my games.

I really do think your fine on that one. Now a days your game saves are held on a chip without a battery so they are safe. My short answer is you are good to change the battery not to worry about loosing any of your data. Also if you connect to the nintendo network with an ID you have cloud backups of your saves :)
