I did put my jeans inside the freezer and I forgot about it, last night I realized I hadn’t gone grocery shopping so I ended up eating a part of my Levi’s. They actually tasted decent.
This advice should only be taken for raw denim (selvedge) or some vintage, super high quality stuff. Daily jeans can and should be washed. When talking about daily jeans, it’s more of a hassle to freeze them or do all that other nonsense than it is to just wash and eventually replace them. Super annoying they said “dOn’T wAsH yOuR LeVi’S” cause what they’re talking about doesn’t even apply to 99% of their product.
Every day work jeans I wash ah little often cuz dey get grime, but my hanging out and GOING OUT JEANS, which I put on mostly on d WEEKENDS , I GO YEARSSSSSSSS ESPECIALLY THE DARK ONES, D WASHED OUT ONES I SPOT CLEAN, ONCE I DONT SWEAT MY JEANS , I AINT WASHING THEM , I PRESENTLY HAV A GREY AND NAVY BLUE LEVI,S JEANS , AND ITS BEEN 3 YEARS AND COUNTING AND I HAVENT WASH DEM, REAL TALK I PUT DEM ON THE WRONG SIDE, AND HANG DEM up in d sun BRIEFLY, DATS MY WAY OF DRY CLEANING DEM , OR GET THEM PROFESSIONALLY DRY CLEANED , I DONT LIKE TO WASH JEANS, MY JEANS WILL LAST ME LONGGGGGGG ONCE I HAV LIFE GODS WILLING REAL TALK ✌
libraoct02 : I agree with you. Although, I enjoy visiting tropical areas, raw denim are pretty much out of the question, which sucks. Dryer climates do favor denim aficionados much more .
Hahaha. Totally. Those bastards don’t know what hard work is. And all of them claim “we work hard that’s why we are rich” as if that poor dude with black lungs mining coal is having a beer watching TV down in the mine shaft.
Because ones you get a pair that fit perfectly and are broken in you don't want to go through that process again. They literally feel like silk once you wear and break them in. The secret is just like they say, don't wash them all the time. I thought this was a well known thing.
They don't feel like silk, they feel like grimy dead skin and sweat grease and dust mite colonies that eat the dead skin. They lay their eggs and those silky cocoons are probably what you feel. Google search mite cocoon. Actually they never fit perfectly if you don't wash them because the secret to a good fit is to have them shrink in the wash then through wearing them, stretch back out in the right dimensions to contour to your body. I thought his was a well known thing. Remember "Original Shrink To Fit". THAT is what jeans are, what made them so popular in the first place once the garment industry became more capable than it was a century ago and people had more choices yet still wear jeans so often as casual wear. Ugh, I can't even believe there are human beings this disgusting by choice instead of from 3rd world poverty.
Back at you! Are you sick and deprived enough to write that, or are you just a pathetic shill for the industry? Is it your nature to inject molestation into conversations, as if molesting children is constantly on your mind? That reflects poorly on you and is a little sick.
Dryers are what kills the color and structure of your clothes. I only use a dryer for socks, underwear and clothing that I typically wear around the house or don't care much for. I hang dry the rest of my clothes.
I just use the normal cycle with medium heat on my dryer for everything, including jeans. They come out just fine. In fact, they come out better then in the ones at my dorm at SFA.
I go for high heat. They charge for 6 minutes for one cycle, and you could put money in the machine again. I go for (2 cycles) 12 minutes and it's 70 to 80 percent dry. I go home and air dry the rest. Socks, underwear and t shirt's I wear in, I tumble dry completely. I like to air dry everything but live in a small room, so it's not possible
That sounds right but is there any scientific tests or data that confirms driers cause fading instead of detergents? Or maybe it's both. Maybe it's just marketing but I see lots of detergents saying their soaps protect color etc.
Trashcan Stan I’m 33yrs old. I work at my same job for 13yrs. M-f 8hrs day and some times up to 12 depending on the season. I’m just smart enough to keep my clothes looking like new so I don’t have to keep spending money on them. I wear Dickies to work in and old jeans to run errands and my Levi’s when I go out. It helps I’m a Mechanic and a uniform is provided. How old are you and what do you do since ?
Trashcan Stan I work with grease, gas, and oil so I would never work in my my nice jeans. Plus Levi’s are not comfortable to work in. Dickies are the best work pants.
Aaah....so this is why ppl have genital yeast infections...I just wash my jeans with WOOLITE for darks in cold water and I swear it looks better than brand new....If anyone I date doesn't wash their jeans, we're breaking up....and Tommy Hilfiger and the C.E.O of Levi don't wash their jeans because they're too rich to wear the same jeans for more than 3 days....they probably wear a different pair every other day....Rich famous ppl never wear the same outfit twice....twice is the max....SO DON'T LISTEN TO THEM...they're experts on being rich...Only a construction worker can give me real advice on washing jeans....not Tommy hilfiger....Tommy doesn't know a damn thing about cleaning jeans....Tommy is too wealthy to know how to operate a washing machine.
I mean, I agree with you, but yeast infections have nothing to do with washing or not washing your pants. lol. Yeast infections can occur because of diet, never "airing out" (it's good not to wear underwear), and the number one cause of yest infections in women? Douching. Seriously don't douche its an awful idea.
The wool is definitely over your eyes... I'm absolutely positive that most people who love the fresh, crisp look of a brand new pair of 501s, don't wash their jeans. Your neighbor? Your co-worker? Your waiter? ...your best friend? I guess your subject to catching that yeast infection regardless of what you do.
What're you, quoting "Mean Girls"? Get the fuck out of here with your "Rich People would *NEVER* wear the same pair of jeans more than once!!! Okay.. maybe.. TWICE! MAX!"
This is literally just an ad for Levis and Tommy Hilfiger. And how "AS LONG AS YOU NEVER WASH IT.." they stay perfect forever! Lol. That it some backwards ass rich logic. All a gimmick. They can afford a new pants every day without even it being a drop in the bucket of their bank account.
Seriously. I wear and wash those bastards into nonexistence. Then, I replace them. In my opinion, they get more comfortable and better shaped for my body the closer they get to disintegration. Besides, I will put hygiene over fashion any day of the week.
John Powell I totally agree...people need to wash those sons of bitches and STOP following stupid trends like a damn mindless zombie. Well hell why dont we just stop washing our clothes too. Well lets take it a step further and stop bathing as well. That way we could all go around looking smelling like ASS.

If you would be into fashion and would pay a substantial amount of money for a good pair of jeans say about 300 to 500 or even up to a 1000 , you wouldnt want them to get faded or make them less of what you paid for , its not a trend , its just a good idea , some people like to look good , now considering you ''just buy a new pair'' i assume you dont pay attention to all of this type of stuff, so why the fuck are you bashing people who do. But you know , odors go away , they're not ''unclean'' they just dont go in the washer , your comments about not washing our body is just plain fuckin stupid to be honest
SincerelyWill those people are fucking idiots. You shouldn't be spending 300+ on jeans unless you have the money to do so. You aren't gonna gain much clout for wearing designer jeans. You can get the same jeans for much cheaper most likely. There's no reason to spend that much money on jeans unless you're making hundreds of thousands or millions per year. I'm gonna be honest, nobody cares about what jeans you're wearing. What matters is how you wear them.
Yeah as a kid I just kind of figured this out. When I was like 15-16 I wore the same pair of jeans 5 days a week and noticed that after a week where I was too lazy to wash them, they didn't really smell, even though I had been wearing them constantly. I started doing research, and learned about just how remarkable denim is as a material. I vowed to never let myself ruin another pair of jeans by washing them until they'd shrunk or faded. I wash mine roughly every 6 months but nowadays my jeans last me for years and if you know the right tricks you can remove stains/get rid of odor without sticking them in the washer.
I did this once before. Use to clean the little spots of maybe a food stain here and there and then put them in a grocery bag folded and put them in the freezer then if use my steamer on them to not crease them but just remove bad looking wrinkles. No one noticed I had jeans that were like a year unwashed before.
@@ju999X you wash in cold. Levi’s don’t shrink. Been wearing them for 47 years. Spraying vinegar and freezing your pants is a bit extreme. If they fade or don’t fit right go buy some new ones.
Its amazing that it sometimes takes generations for people to figure out how common products are really supposed to be used. For much of my life people didn't know that the brim of the baseball cap goes at the back of your head.
I'm living in India and when I go out it is so dusty and it makes my jeans so dirty in just one day, if I don't want I would surely be look alike a never bathing person.
That's disgusting. I'm sorry, but it's simply absurd. I think those people don't wash their jeans because they don't do laundry to begin with. They're rich so it's not like they're working for a living, sweating and getting body fluids or dirt on them. Let them dig a ditch, sweat their balls off and NOT wash their jeans...yeah right.
I too am disgusted. How about wash them on the normal cycle and dry them on the normal cycle too? I wash them on warm or cold water depending if they're light or dark colored.
I know I'm like 5 years late, but they're talking about denim that costs like $450+, there's a little known niche "Made in America" branch of Levi's. Hilfiger isn't going down to Kohls for a 2 for $80 special on 511's.
Once I did try freezing my jeans and not washing. It worked out pretty well but I felt disgusted wearing same dirty jeans for too long. Had to go back to the square one!
For those that don't know, there's a "Made in America" section of Levi's where jeans go for about 10x what you see in stores. They're obviously talking about those heritage pieces, not the $45 daily jeans we plebians purchase.
Good call out on their bullshit. Levi sitting there with a brand new pair of jeans on talking about how he doesn't wash his jeans, yeah probably because you only wear them once. Same with Ralph. Most cloyhing items quality has gone down across the board, shoes, work gear, jeans, socks/underwear, button ups/polos, etc,
Andrew Centeno right, just gotta use the correct method, cold water, low tumble or hang dry, and don't overload the washer I use delicate cycle unless the jeans are heavily soiled.
I thought I was the only one doing this for years. I never wash my jeans. If I want them cleaned, I take them to the cleaners. Washing them will fade them out fast.
Wash them in cold water and hang them to dry. If you're worried about color loss, toss a cup of vinegar in and let them soak for about 30 minutes before the first couple of times you wash them, then just wash like normal. (The vinegar sets the color- works great for red items also 😊.)
When you wash them they get nice and soft and faded - that’s the way I like them. And white vinegar smells awful. I had to spritz my Siberian Husky with it when he was sprayed by a skunk last week.
Levi’s has deteriorated in quality and washing it often will cause to loose it’s color. Diesel makes much better quality, doesn’t loose its color or shape no matter how many times you wash it.
CEO is nuts, must never have worn Levi's before becoming CEO. I'm 80, and have worn Levi's since a teenager. I'm fit and weigh the same as when I was 18. I wear a clean pair every day, end of the day they go in the laundry hamper, machine wash warm water, clothes dryer to full dry, fold and on the shelf for next use. Can't imagine putting on a dirty pair in the morning. Wonder what Jockey CEO says about Classic Briefs?
@@atticustay1 for real..using it once and already to wash? I use mine at leat 5 or 6 times if they get dirty or sweat, why would you wash them if you they aren't dirty neither sweaty
I wear Levi's 501s my entire life over 40 years and never had a problem washing them after every wear, they age well and if going out and wanting to clean up for an occasion I just buy a new pair. I have over 20 pair most faded and shredded and some looking new for dressing up.
how about woolite detergent or hypoallergenic wash that includes decyl glucoside (gentle sulfate) and spot treat with baking soda. and what about stains. @@moshpitsonly2778
+swiperboy sb I'm with you on all but the last part there. Are you saying your farts leave residue? Because if you're telling me that's the case, I've got to let you know: That ain't a fart, brah.
When I was twelve in 1969 my new Levi's were stiff as a board and really thick. I would put on a new pair and sit in a hot bath, the jeans would shrink just the perfect amount, not too tight not too loose and the water would turn dark indigo blue. I don't remember exactly how long they lasted but it was a long time. Now they are crap just like every thing else you buy. You pay more and get less.
They missed the most vital info and reason why you shouldn't wash your jeans: The level of germs and bacteria in a washed pair of jeans and an unwashed pair of jeans are just the same. Wash them only if you are sure that you dirtied them like when it is stained, when you sat on a greasy surface, etc. This CEO is probably mostly working indoors and doesn't have to clean his jeans every week unlike people who get sand and mud on their jeans because they always go out.
swiperboy sb what kinda English is that? You mean to say 'I am not (ain't) going to wear no stinky jeans' ? That sentence basically means that jeans that are not stinky, you won't wear them.
I bought two pairs of 569’s a year ago in Kale. They are my only jeans and I have never washed them. I used to destroy my jeans very quickly by washing them all the time. But now I get it. I was definitely doing it wrong. They still look brand new after a year.
Levi jeans are no longer made with Hemp, so they rip and tear easy. My son ripped many Levi jeans in a month's time and yes the jeans were washed regularly. Levi jeans are Not the quality they once were. So they're disposal jeans NOW not worth the money IMO.
why would you even care to write so many comments man. I wash my jeans like every second wear but I dont bust my head about those who dont, I dont really give a fuck, its just interesting that you are so mad about it lol
With casual jeans I’ll wash them but only after every 7 to 12 wears, you can say that’s gross but depending on if they get dirty or what your doing this isn’t really that gross. With more premium denim your gonna wanna go the extra mile certainty. I’ve had a regular pair of 505 jeans last me 6 years now and that’s with rare washing and constant wear, like how they have a beat look and still hold up nicely.
This is ridiculous. It is well established that Levi’s cut the quality of their denim years ago to levels akin to cheap garbage shrouds toward a goal increasing profitability. The result is subpar, non-durable jeans the wear out in less than a year which forces you to buy more jeans. Even wonder why original 501’s from the 80’s or before sell for hundreds on EBay? It’s because those really lasted! Now Levi’s try’s to spin a myth of not washing your jeans by having Tommy Butterfinger profess to never washing denim because it preserves them; as if it’s the fashionable thing to do. That’s true, you shouldn’t wash em because they are cheap pieces of garbage that literally begin deteriorating once they touch detergent and water, pathetic! Levi’s, I hope your short term profitability stunt results in a long term stock decline into oblivion.
This nonsense is infuriating. If your jeans aren't made out of tissue paper and/or aren't sewn together with spiderwebs, they can withstand *daily* washing and still last years. Granted, I've seen some pairs that seem to be made out of those materials, but my advice would be don't buy shitty jeans (and to be clear, that doesn't mean 'buy expensive jeans', it *only* means 'don't buy shitty jeans'). At least the alcohol/vinegar spritz will have a real germ-killing effect, but the freezing thing is absolute nonsense that can be called out by anyone who has taken high school biology. And besides, a lot of that nasty sweat/grime/whatever smell is caused not by active living bacteria but by the volatile chemical components of the substances themselves, which will continue to stank up your wardrobe until you *wash your jeans* you dirty hipsters. Whoa, whoa, wait a minute here: Did she just sniff *brand new* jeans with the *tags still on them* that she pulled out of the *fridge* to test the theory about that says put your *worn, nasty* jeans into a *freezer*?
This is stupid I wash my jeans everytime I wear them I work and sweat my ass off its not sanitary any other way, my jeans usually only last about a year but I'm ok with that. I buy cheap jeans from walmart.
Bullshit. I've been wearing Levis 501 shrink to fit for over 45 years and still have Levi Jeans that I still wear that are 20 years old. Perhaps, Levis is saying not to wash your jeans because over the years Levis's quality as gone down to garbage. If you happen to still own a pair of Levis that are at least 20 years old, then you can see what I'm talking about. Levis is not the same as what they use to be indeed. Hahahahhaa...don't was you jeans, pretty stupid comment since you would need to wash your original Levis "SHRINK TO FIT" jeans several times to get them to fit just right.
+gmlasam I'm inclined to agree with you. I have two pairs of Levis that are over 20 years old and I have worn and washed them regularly. I should probably note that one of those pairs were hard denim when I purchased them.
I only wash my jeans if I absolutely have to. I don't sweat a lot and wear a lot of perfumed lotions and perfume so odor is never my issue. I just like my jeans to keep the original color and wash they had like when first bought.
I Wash then after evertime I wear them. Think about all the stuff your jeans touch all day. Couches, car seats, restaurant seats, your ass on a 100 degree day, etc. This guy a snow flake.
i by rustler brand jeans and they last about 2 years rotating between 3 pair being worn every day working on a farm levis wear out within 3 months and one pair cost more than 3 rustler and i wash them when dirty typically once a week
Levi's sells different levels of quality to different companies..Walmart Jean's are $2/pr to manufacture..mall stores are about $3.. each level of store receives a different level if quality .. they have jeans that sell for over $200 per pair because they're made on the original machines..but here's the kicker to that: the original looms were modified and computerized, so they're not the same quality.. none of that matters though, because the material they're using to produce the "old jeans" isnt the same material they would've used back then..it is intentionally engineered to be more cost effective and production friendly..and because of that, the quality suffers.. just as many of the big name tool companies have done, Levi's has sold out to greed many, many times
best thing is to shop at LEVIS store and look out for sales. same thing with outlet malls and store or winners even. always purchase sale from company store to get the quality but deal
I’m a country boy. I chuck them in the machine and call it a day. I am fine with the dryer but I prefer to line dry. I live in Central Florida so this is available year around.
Vodka?! OK!! A sip for me, a drop for the jeans, two sips for me, two drops for the jeans....screw it, the jeans can drink water...the vodka's MINE! 🤪🤣
Best Levi’s are old fashion jeans. I love them. I could wash them and it doesn’t change on me. I would go with 505 or something that fits your body Type or style. I normally go with 36 cause they barely make 35 waist size. I use lee as well. I don’t like wrangler. I have over 20 different Levi’s jeans. Nothing beats old fashion denims. Got some made in the USA. You got to wash it and hang dry it. I just dry at a low temperature and wash inside out. I don’t wash outside out cause that’s how it should be cleaned for any jeans. 🤦♂️
wash 'em when they're dirty (once a month!?) - they're denim not gold - love that they fade and age - that's what denim does - I own two pairs of jeans (identical pairs of Levis) and I've lost track - they're between 10 and 15 years old - can't imagine owning anything that so precious that you wouldn't want it to show its age - just saying 🤔
Actually not washing them is in order for the wear to show on the knees, pockets and normal aging areas. If you wash them, they wear out equally everywhere so you don't have the "patina" (if that is how you use it, is it only for leather?) that you would get
Yeah I noticed a long time ago that jeans start noticeably fading by just the 3rd or 4th wash, so I only wash mine about once every 10 times I wear them and I don't use much detergent. Moving forward I will probably start using low heat or no heat when I dry them too and turn them inside out.
If you shower regular then they shouldn't need washing as much, ever since I started showering regular I havent washed my jeans in 4 months and they still smell like they are brand new not joking
I never wash mine either, but I only wear them maybe 3 months out of the year and maybe once a week out of those 3 months. Then get new pairs the next year and the old ones become work pants. As long as you shower, who cares?
If my mom caught my dirty ass sweaty ass jeans in the freezer I wouldnt be able to wear jeans again for weeks from my legs being beat up lol we raised different.. they talking about killing the odor what about killing the dirt🤨
Since when is having faded jeans a bad thing? Used to be back in the day you wanted them to fade out a bit and look "broke in". I wear mine 3 or 4 times, depending on what I'm doing in them, then wash in cold water and if I can't hang them up to dry, I dry for one cycle on med heat. keeps shrinkage to a minimum.
