JaguarsSoul I have a white siamese cat and he is not deaf. So, white cats don´t have to be deaf, when they´re bred right. (never 2 white cats together)
+Gouds87 Yes this cat is more than likely deaf in both ears. The dna sequence that is linked to the blue eye color (Persian/angora) is in the same neighbourhood as the gene which is known to cause deafness. When breeding for the blue eye color it is very likely to pick up the dna that also causes deafness. It is possible in very rare cases that you can have a mutation which while causing the blue eye color does not affect the hearing but these are going to be a mutation from the original non-blue eyed persian/angoran (hearing intact of course). Odd eyed persian cats (those with blue and orange eyes... will be deaf in the blue eyed side ear for this same reason. This is not true of the Siamese cats as the blue color of their eyes are linked to a completely different DNS sequence.
