"Pretties For You" and "Easy Action" are my favorite Alice Cooper albums...I enjoyed "Love it to Death" and "Killer" but everything to follow lacked That Certain Weird Something these two albums had. And this song, and "Fields of Regret", are my favorite songs on "Pretties". Thank you so much for this video...you have no idea how much this means to me!
They certainly had that certain weird something for a while. All those intertwining descending guitar lines created magic, the kind I heard first in Roxy Music's "Remake Remodel." which was recorded about 3 years later for their first LP. At that point they were just starting to get creative and thankfully we can hear those experiments, before they became a full fledged hard rock band. They were already sketching out "Halo Of Flies" and "Black Juju" which meant you could hear those ideas fully realised and brilliantly produced. I always go back to the first two albums to hear the real spirit of Alice Cooper. Where it all sprang from. They were well ahead of their time.
I agree. Not many of us think that way. First time I heard Pretties For You, I thought the tape was fucked up. When I realized it wasn't, I thought "how cool?"
Old Alice cooper also sound like The doors’ influenced. Probably from opening for ‘the doors’ during thier stay in LA along with Pink Floyd. LA wasn’t very receptive to Alice cooper. Alice’ remembered Syd eating bowl of cereal hiding behind box of corn flakes at breakfast. Syd never said a word. Alice sat down to have eggs toast, While staring reading the back of the cornflakes syd passes the salt without moving perfect timing. Alice later said, he thought syd had telepathy . This is before syd moved back to his moms and started to remodel. Painting each wall different color, also changing the door handles with toys
I saw them in Saugatuck just as the first album came out, the audience was overwhelmed by them because of the loudness and spectacle, I became an instant fan. This is my favorite period of their music. I saw them a few more times after that, once at the Owosso Armory. Not exactly high-profile gigs.
Soooooo cool. Pretties and Easy Action are by far the best albums they made. All the original band albums are great. But the two are psycadelic masterpieces
@@TwilightZone69I think I’m in love with him, but only his young version in to his early twenties. I’ve had this “sickness” since I’ve been 12 years old. I still love all the young Alice videos and internet pictures so much. I’m 64 now, still love him so much. LOL
@frankiefelinesalwayswelcom5825 When I first became a fan of his I kept all the newspaper clippings of him, dressed as much as I could get away like him and kept a notebook of the lyrics of all his songs. I can relate. Bless you.
@@TwilightZone69 I had posters and mag clippings all over my bedroom. Had every music magazine with pictures and stories of him. As a young girl sometimes Alice looked so sad, always wondered what he was thinking. I wanted to hug and kiss him so badly. Now I cruise the internet for young cute pictures of him and save them to my photos on the iPad. I have now over 800 pictures of him young cute and without makeup. So much fun to look at. Can I ask, are you a girl? I saw you joined YT just yesterday.
Yeah, it would be completely ludicrous for anyone to claim that the music didn't change once "Alice Cooper" turned into an individual. The music and the lyrics were more mysterious and less "Haunted House, Halloween Decorations, Spook show." Even though I've loved many of his solo albums and the concerts are great. It just changed from how it was with these other guys contributing. I think they were more hardcore, controversial and disturbing as the band.
Scot Scotland well MoL didn’t have any Glen Buxton, and not always Neal Smith was playing. So BDB is the last real group album, but at the same time some claims were made that GB only played slide guitar on Generation Landslide... I don’t know, there’s quite a few disagreements. But I still consider MoL a group album. 🤘
Anyone Who Doesn't" Love This And All of Easy Action/Pretties For You Is NOT a ALICE COOPER FAN!!!! Or Understands It"s Importance!!!!! 🖤🎸♥️🎸♠️🎸♦️🎸♣️🎸🖤🎩🕸️🦇🕷️🐍🦂🌹🏵️🌹🎩⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐❤️🌛🌚🌜💲🥁💲💃👽💃💜🖤💜
Love the two first albums for what they are but thank God for Bob Ezrin for without him there would not be any Alice Cooper for how we know and love him/them.
Amen, I like the first two alot More now, any one seen the movie"good to see you again Alice Cooper" I saw it. In a theatre in Eugene Oregon. Ive never seen it again. Tis was mid 70's.
seen him twice, never dissapoints. My friend saw him walking up steps and didn`t know who he was and asked him if he is famous and who he is,he replied Alice Cooper. I am jealous of my friend.
Neil Smith is the only other drummer I've ever seen that holds his drumsticks the way Keith Moon did...that leading index finger-style, much like a little kid holds a bug by its wings... I've tried that and it takes all the power out of hitting the drums (for me, at least...); I have no idea how either of them ever made that work... looks coool, though... (w/3 o's...)
@@geothon Not from the footage at the GB memorial at AC's restaurant (or whatever it is); he played normal drummer-style. At least he never put explosives in his bass drums...(or did he...?)
