The shallow spool from the SP can be used in the custom pro. Since the custom pro and custom lite are extremely similar, it looks like ypu just took that idea and put it to the custom Lite.

Does Lew's even have any finesse rods to pair with this reel? Any 7 ft+ light or medium light rods?

how this compares to my 2022 Shimano Aldebaran BFS, because the Aldebaran can cast from 1/32oz - 1/4oz no problem and the spool only weight 7g total mass rotation

I have the 18 alderberan, the new bfs alderberan, 20 metanium, 22 shallow metanium... I got the urge to try a new brand of reels, and picked up the lews custom lite, custom pro, and their SP custom (their first bfs capable reel). The lews don't compare. There nice reels for sure, but the quality and capability is not there.

@rainbosprinkles6548 try the hypermag and pro ti. They cast farther than any reel I've used and so sensitive you can feel the baits in the reel

BFS is a Marketing Tactic to sell more Baitcasting Reels. You use “Finesse” tactics when using any Lure and using a Spinning Reel is the absolute best for 1/32nd ounce jigs. It’s also 300 bucks lol are you serious.??!! I don’t think there is a better Reel for the price than the basic Lews LFS I have but come on stop trying to sell an Angler something they think they can toss an 1/16 once Lure on, it’s a pain in the Ass trying to on a Baitcasting Reel just use a Spinning Reel and Lews makes a fantastic Spinning Reel and don’t get me wrong I Love my Lews Reels for ease of use. Casting sub 1/4 ounce weight with a casting Reel requires more than just the Reel component.

I 100% agree! BFS is a waste of money and time. I’ll take one step further, I think bait casters are kind of a waste. I own a bunch of them and like using them but a spinning reel does everything a bait caster does and more.

@@Tightt88 they do have better Drag than a Baitcasting Reel 100% I use a 5500 for Cats but the Baitcasting Reel for the little stuff and YES they can be a huge Pain lol with the backlash. I see every Pro Angler pick up a Spinning Reel when using light stuff and not a “BFS” Baitcasting Reel lol

@@allen4758 you do not have to switch hands after casting lol. That’s because you’re used to using a baitcaster. I cast with my left hand and I never transfer it to my other hand. Try, switching the crank arm to the right side of the spinning reel. Since you’re used to right hand retrieve lol.

@@allen4758 I have baitcasters, I just don’t use them. They backlash even when the reel is dialed in. You have too many variables with baitcaster. You cannot cast into the wind, the brakes and tension knobs have to be set based off the lure weight. So if you are casting an 1/2oz lure you have to have it dialed in for that. Then if you go down to a 1/4oz you have to reset or reel. Nope, just give me a spinning reel where you have to do zero dialing in. It casts just as far and it reels in line just as fast as a baitcaster. So why would I want to dial with all of the baitcaster headaches when I can just use a spinning reel?

@@joshuahreha3116 if you think this is good, obviously you haven’t dabble into high-end bfs reel at all like Daiwa steez, Shimano aldebaran (JDM) and Shimano Calcutta Conquest bfs (JDM), plus $300 ($299.99) is a little too over price for a entry level bfs type reel

@@joshuahreha3116 If you got a deal that’s great, but for the full retail price I wouldn’t look into at, because this reel spec is comparable to the Shimano SLX (JDM) which cost only $127 and it’s a basic entry level bfs reel from Shimano lol
