New Yorkers got a front-row seat to a one-of-a-kind show by one of racing's biggest stars yesterday. Seven-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton sped down Fifth Avenue, even stopping to do doughnuts right outside the iconic Empire State Building. The stunt was planned to promote a partnership with WhatsApp and Hamilton's Mercedes F1 team, and their growth here in the U.S. Gayle King sat down exclusively with the global superstar right after the stunt.

@@coreyrod Well that's not exactly true now is it. He hasn't won a thing in the last two years, won't win anything this season and maybe he'll win a race of 2 next year in the Ferrari but most development will be in the 2026 car so it's very likely Max will also win the 2025 season. So then he'll be at 5 championships already while still being very young. Lewis however is in his last years in F1, he might be relevant to you...but to F1, yeah not so much anymore. Not even sure if he could beat Leclerc to be honest, we'll see..should be fun to watch

@hiufgterde Everyone talks about Hamilton. Everyone was shocked by his sudden move and pundits suddenly remembered what happened the last time he switched teams. Face it - Hamilton is the only superstar in F1, the only driver that brings back the days of old. Do you honestly believe that Hamilton won't do anything in 2025 with Ferrari? Even you don't believe that. In 2023 with that tractor of a car Hamilton still finished 3rd in driver standings. 2025 he will be in a very competitive car. Hamilton and Leclerc _'hopefully"_ working as a team will be a force to reconned with.

@@amgoneisdope actually RB has released him from next year. his gardening leave effectively starts now and he is stepping away from RBs f1 department. he will only work on the rb17 super roadcar till early next year and then he is free to join another team

I moved to New York and was so afraid of failing. I literally lived on 5th Avenue and one block from the Empire State Building. After a month or so I asked my friend why so many people are alway standing here. She said, are you serious??! This is the Empire State Building.

still hate the fact he was cheated out of his 8th title. Masi, its on your head for ever!. but man.. imagine if he pulls it off with Ferrari!!. not only would it be a spectacle, it would break the long standing Ferrari curse for past championship winning drivers going team red. Ferrari would absolutely love it, not just from the standpoint of breaking their long standing absence from an F1 championship title, but also the fact a title with Hamilton would come bearing the glory of that 8th standing, the highest in the sports history and staying under the banner of Team Red as it did with Its past highest championship holder Michael Schumacher. Mercedes though winning so many championships with Hamilton will be gutted that such a standing would not be marked under their team banner.
